Megyn Kelly Ditching Fox News, Joining Rival NBC News

USA TodayMegyn Kelly is signing off on Fox News to join rival NBC News.

The popular cable network personality is joining the peacock network, where she will anchor a new, one-hour daytime program, Andrew Lack, chairman of the NBCUniversal News Group, said in a statement today.

As part of a broad, multi-year deal, Kelly will also anchor a new Sunday evening news magazine show and contribute to NBC’s breaking news, political and special events coverage.

What a year for Megyn Kelly. She fucking DOMINATED the media game. I’m not saying everyone loves her and she’s the most popular person in America. Megyn Kelly isn’t universally hated or universally loved, but she’s respected by many and the point is she took relentless fire, flak, and praise over the last year and a half. Rather than let that beat her down, she piled it up, stand atop, and use that shit as fuel for her rise as one of the biggest stars in the industry. And now she’s cashing in.

It really was a perfect storm of events for her. Trump shit on her about unfairness in a GOP debate in 2015; next thing you know Fox News internally crumbled with Roger Ailes and all the fallout from his sexual assault accusations. Rising above the ashes was Megyn Kelly. Being constantly mentioned alongside the most news-heavy character in modern history sure helped. She stood as a staunch contrast to longtime cable news king Bill O’Reilly, and her feud with Trump only enhanced that image.

Do I love Megyn Kelly? Not really. I respect her, for good reason. She seems reasonable and genuine but I’m not crazy about her whole vibe. Frankly reminds me of that hot girl at the lunch table who used to just look at you like you’re the lamest/dumbest person alive every time you spoke. For me she’s not must-watch when shit’s going down. I much prefer Bill O’Reilly doing it live, ranting and raving and interrupting people for being dumb. Or Jake Tapper. Or my girl Erin Burnett. Sincerely enjoy their takes and coverage of the big stuff and their personalities resonate with me, the people’s blogger.

Today’s TV news is walking the line between journalism and live entertainment and Megyn Kelly knows that. In that respect, she’s got it all: a law degree, smoking hot looks for a 46-year-old, a solid relationship with the issues, and a “you go girl” feeling that plays well when contrasted against the male-dominated news anchor role. A real 2017 Veronica Corningstone.
