Apparently Barry Zito Is A Country Singer Now, And He's Not Terrible

Barry Zito has been out of baseball since 2015, playing his final season with the organization where it all started for him. Zito played in Oakland from 2000 through 2006, won a Cy Young in 2002 (which Pedro should’ve won), and then cashed in as a free agent, becoming the highest paid pitcher in baseball history at the time, signing a seven-year, $126 million deal with the San Francisco Giants before the 2007 season. Over his seven seasons in San Francisco, Zito had an ERA of 4.62, and is widely regarded as one of the worst free agent signings of all-time. Big expectations come with big contracts, and Zito was a disaster after signing with the Giants, ultimately leading to him having confidence issues, which led to him finding Jesus and all that shit.

That’s obviously what this song is about, how you can have all the money and the fame in the world, but that’s not what life is about. Tell that to Dave Portnoy, and he’ll call you a liar. Low key like this song, by the way. I just get a kick out of the southern accent when he was born in Vegas and grew up in California. And, since you’re probably wondering, his smokeshow wife is Amber Seyer, who was Miss Missouri in 2007.

The secret to life is having a hot wife, Barry. It’s having a hot wife.
