Nothing Like A Mid August Cubs Game To Bring Out The Wilbon Hot Takes

I have a question. Did Michael Wilbon turn on the 2016 Chicago Cubs for the first time last night in the top of the eighth? I’ve never seen a dude more out of touch with a team than this. Yes last night’s game sucked. Squandered opportunities, a blown 8th by Rondon, letting the Cards win a game they should have lost, it sucked. But guess what also happened this weekend, the Cardinals gained ZERO games on the Cubs. The Cubs still have the best record in baseball and just finished a 12 game winning streak. Everyone needs to chill the fuck out. I know it’s hard because expectations have gotten so out of control but 1 game out of 162 can’t be taken as the end all be all, it just can’t. The Cubs are really really good. Does that mean they’ll walk to the World Series? OF COURSE NOT. But I’d rather have the Cubs roster right now than any other team in the Majors. Baseball is a fickle sport, all you can do is win your division and get yourself some home games in October and guess what, the Cubs are in the PERFECT spot to do both. I doubt anyone agrees with Wilbon on this but if that person does exist, just realize you too have shit for brains.

Want to know a real concern? What the fuck are we going to do with Heyward’s bat in October? You can’t lose his glove but holy shit is he so bad at the plate. I honestly think his wrist is still fucked up. Last night they were saying he sees the most fastballs in the majors. Teams just know they can throw it right down the pike and he won’t be able to make solid contact. Brutal spot to be in.
