Wake Up With David Ortiz's "This Is Our Fucking City" Speech

(David Ortiz speech at 8:15)

April 20, 2013. I’ll never forget that day for as long as I live. I’ve been to Fenway Park hundreds of times, for dozens of postseason games, walk-off finishes, heartwarming ceremonies, historic moments, and none of them will ever compare to what it felt like to be in the crowd that day. From David Ortiz’s speech that will forever be woven into the fabric of the city of Boston’s history, to seeing all of the people on the field who emerged as heroes that horrifying day at the finish line and later that week in Watertown, to Daniel Nava’s game-winning home run in the eighth inning. I still get choked up when I hear Don Orsillo’s call of, “Boston, this is for you.” It was a day at baseball’s cathedral that transcended the game of baseball, and began the healing process for an entire city. Three years later, and it’s still just as powerful as it was on the day that it happened. We were Boston Strong then, and we’re Boston Stronger now.
