Flyers Take A Nice Hot Steamy Shit In Their Pants, Drop Game To Penguins
I’m sure there are plenty of Penguins fans out there who would like to cyber bully the shit out of me right now in the comments so this blog is for you fucking losers. As much as I don’t want to write it, I have to own up to how pathetic the Flyers played today. Because that’s about the only word I can think of to sum up that performance today at the Wells Fargo Center. Just a disgusting effort all around, some of the most uninspired hockey we’ve seen in a month and it couldn’t have come at a worse time in the season. Obviously things were going to be thrown off a little bit with Jake Voracek returning to the lineup and the lines getting shifted around a bit. But the Flyers weren’t able to get ANYTHING going all day. Right off the bat, they had this perfect opportunity to get on the board early to put the Pens on their heels.
You could see right away that they were off today. Brayden Schenn has been playing lights out since big bro got shipped out to LA. He’s been arguably one of the best players in the league since the All Star Break. And he made up for it with this effort on the Flyers only goal of the day.
But other than that 20-second span, it was a putrid effort from the Flyers. They weren’t able to get anything going. They would get pinned deep in their own zone. They’d get bundled up in the neutral zone and their forecheck that has been dominant over the past 10 games just wasn’t there today. And the thing that pissed me off the most? This fucking goal.
What was working so well for the Flyers during that 10-game run that they went 8-1-1 in is that everybody was doing their job. Everybody was playing their role. Nothing more, nothing less. And it was working. So Ryan White needs to know what type of player he is in this situation. He needs to know that when he gets the puck at that area of the ice, his job is to just get it out of the zone. Instead, he tries to make something out of nothing, turns the puck over and it ends up in the back of the net. Sickening. They’re still only 1-point back from the Red Wings with a game in hand for that 2nd Wild Card spot. But it would have been great to at least make up that point today instead of losing in regulation. Oh well. Time to go get irresponsibly drunk.
