It Would Suck To Get Killed By A Sword, It Would Really Suck To Get Killed By A Sword While Rehearsing A Play

MashableAn actor was fatally stabbed with a samurai sword while rehearsing a play at a Tokyo studio, and police are investigating if his death was criminal or accidental. Media reports indicated several actors were performing an action scene when the man was stabbed Monday, and no one saw what exactly happened. Japanese public broadcaster NHK reported that the other actors saw Daigo Kashino hunched over, wounded in the abdomen, when they turned around after hearing him groan. Kashino, 33, was an actor with the theater group in downtown Tokyo. He was rushed to a hospital but died hours later, police said. Police didn’t describe the sword or if it might have had safety features to prevent injury.

I’m having trouble deciding if this is a good death story or a bad death story. I’m leaning towards bad. Like yeah, getting killed by a sword is a badass way to go. It would hurt like hell but at least it’d be memorable. It’s an old school way to die. For instance, if you get killed by a gun in 2016, it’s not a good death story. People get gunned down all the time. 400 people got gunned down as I typed that last sentence. But a sword? That almost never happens anymore. I’m pretty sure the last person to get killed by a sword was Maynard.  Not to mention every time you’ve seen somebody die via sword in a movie or TV show it’s dramatic as fuck.  It’s usually in slow motion, everyone is watching and it’s just an all around great death story. However, toss in the part where you’re not a warrior or a member of the Night’s Watch and instead you’re just a dopey actor rehearsing for a play and it becomes a considerably less cool death story.

ALTHOUGH

If this turns into a murder investigation that changes things completely.  To be murdered while rehearsing a play where the person tried to make it look like an accident is an AWESOME death story. So keep your fingers crossed this guy was murdered.

PS- My death story is gonna stink and I already know what it’s gonna be. I will absolutely plow into a telephone pole while checking Twitter as I drive and leave this planet that way. It’s a foregone conclusion. Or I’ll uneventfully die in my sleep from a disease I didn’t know I had because I haven’t been to the doctor in 10 years. Both aren’t great death stories and I’m embarrassed.
