Maryland Gets Their Biggest Win Of The Season Knocking Off Number 3 Iowa

It wasn’t the prettiest game. The shooting wasn’t the best. They didn’t blow Iowa out. But they got the W against the number 3 team in the country and that’s all that matters. Maryland faced their toughest competition in the B1G and played a pretty good first half…and then a very sloppy, mediocre second half. But Rasheed Sulaimon hit his shots when he needed to, they grabbed 3 clutch offensive rebounds in a row with under 5 minutes remaining, hit their foul shots, and took the win.
The weird thing about college basketball, as we all know by now, is nobody is really that good. Some games it looks like Maryland can make a run to the Final 4, other games I wonder if it’s more of the same from them. But the good thing is the competition is the same. A team is hot one week, loses 3 in a row the next.
Goes without saying about we would love more consistency from them. If Melo, Stone, and Carter, and Sheed could all be just somewhat, just somewhattttt on the same page every game these games wouldn’t be nail-biters. Think about the great teams of the past who had loaded rosters, they could blow teams out at home because guys like Melo would confuse the hell out of the defense by having so many weapons to choose from. And Jake Layman. Jake, Jake, Jake. His defense is outstanding. His rebounding is pretty good. But boy oh boy he has lost all ability to shoot the ball. If Jake can find that shot again he is the real deal. You can’t take him out of the lineup because his defense is so good, but even if he’s not nailing 3’s, he needs to be hitting his short range shots.
This team has so much talent and the ceiling is sky high. Beating the number 3 team in the country proves it. Now I hope Turg and the boys can continue to put it all together as we get closer and closer to March Madness.
PS: Ya dead
