Paul Bissonnette Better Be Prepared To Eat At Least 90 Cannolis If He's Going To Eat One For Every Point Matvei Michkov Scores This Season
Okay so there is definitely some context that needs to be presented here for anybody outside of Philadelphia to know what is going on.
For starters, there is a Flyers fan on Twitter who goes by the name "Tony Escargot". He's an absolute lunatic, but he's our lunatic. The way that Tony operates is that if he sees a member of the media is pushing an agenda that he agrees with, he likes to reward that media member by sending a couple of cannolis directly to their doorstep. The only thing is that Tony Escargot does not ask for your address. As a proud recipient of a Tony Escargot cannoli, I know. He just manages to find your address, and send over a couple of cannolis from the nearest bakery. It's definitely alarming at first, but once you realize that Tony only uses his powers for good then you start to feel at ease.
And then we get to Biz. The thing about Biz is that he's been prick about this entire Michkov/Tocchet saga over the last 2 seasons. He goes on tirades against Philly fans on the podcast, then he leans into the joke on Twitter to stir the pot, then he'll find himself starting to actually enjoy Philly fans, and then the cycle just keeps going in a loop. Hatred, pot stirring, enjoyment, rinse and repeat. It's hard to get a read on where he actually lands with Philly fans. Sometimes you just need to find a little common ground to unite two enemies, and cannolis might just be the answer.
So it sounds as if every time Michkov records a point this year, Paul "BizNasty" Bissonnette will treat himself to a cannoli (or I guess the proper singular form is "cannolo"). But that's where things could really start to get out of hand. Because after another assist on the powerplay last night, that puts Matvei Michkov on a 4-game point streak.
He now has 6 points in those last 4 games. That's 6 points on 10 goals the Flyers have scored during that span, which include their first 3 wins of the season. Michkov is on a tear, and the Flyers are finally winning hockey games. Funny to see the correlation there, huh? And last night was his biggest night of the season as far as TOI goes. He logged 18 minutes, which is the most he's had since a shootout win against Toronto in early March of last season. 18 minutes is the most he's played in a game that ended in regulation since his rookie season.
He got himself into great shape, he's playing the game with a ton of confidence right now, and he's finally logging more minutes out on the ice. 90 points is absolutely within reach for Matvei Michkov if he keeps this up all season. Which means that Biz could have 82 more cannolis to scarf down between now and the middle of April. The combination of Matvei Michkov and Tony Escargot might just age him another 5 years this year alone.
