UPDATE: Dave Portnoy Sent A Pizza Store Owner Slash Cancer Survivor To TEARS After Revealing How High His One Bite Score Was Gonna Be And Now The Demand For His Spot "Pizzeria Baci" Is So High All His Phone Lines Have Busted Into Bolivian
Got a fun update worth adding to the recent One Bite saga above. If you missed that blog getting posted over the weekend, the TLDR is our tall fearless leader Dave Portnoy created another incredible memory during a NY pizza review last week. Apparently the solo restaurant owner Chris Weisman has been put through an absolute ringer for the past 10 years dealing with cancer issues & heart attacks while also living off food stamps in between random jobs.
But all those hardships didn't stop him from building an illegal pizza room in the back of a bar so he could start slinging A+ pies on the side. Even built a trap door to hide it from the health department too! Real salt-of-the-earth type guy. Easy dude to root for. The common man.
Gotta give him credit for being somewhat of a prophet as well. He nearly said no to the pizza review out of fear his business would be overrun with orders...
(SOURCE) - He opened Pizzeria Baci five years ago. Since then he’s had three heart attacks and a serious knee injury that forced him to close for almost four months, with a customer’s GoFundMe raising more than $18,000 to keep the shop alive. He also runs the place entirely on his own, and admitted he’d considered sabotaging the review to keep the crowds away.
“I was actually going to give you a mid pie on purpose,” he told Portnoy. “I want to know a true score. I’m a pizza man.”
Instead, he came in at 3am to make the dough, as he never refrigerates it. Portnoy struggled to describe the ultra-crispy sourdough crust, calling it “very unique”
Well my friends, that is exactly what happened since that review dropped. Nonstop calls & a level of interest in his A+ pies like never seen before. I was cracking up at his IG Stories over the weekend, just the right mix of gratitude & dark humor. What a mensch.

And he also posted a touching tribute about the whole experience too. Along with some inspiring words of wisdom. Positive vibes ONLY. Hell yeah.
Yea so cats out the bag. Dave Portnoy stopped by last Saturday. At first I was gonna decline the review but I’m a pizzaman and as crazy as it sounds i wanna be judged on my pizza by a Jewish boy from salem Massachusetts. Love him or hate him he has done more for pizzerias than anyone I know. I didn’t cry like a beach for the score. It was a very emotional week for me with my cancer and heart issues. To have so many pizzerias begging him to come and him show up at mine. Was truly humbling. He couldn’t even pronounce my pizzeria name or the town in which it’s located. But I don’t give a shit. He was a very nice and kind guy and I truly appreciate him stopping in. Thank yo please I’m not changing anything. Just got a guy to cut pizzas. That’s it. No walk in. Preorder only. My regulars I told youse the plan. MSG me if any issues. Thanks for all the love and support. Very kind.

Been a wild ride. Not the most comfortable with all this attention. You’ll say I make videos but that’s for my page and customers. I’m not trying nor want to go viral. Truly am humbled and appreciative of all the kind words of support. This is proof that anyone can drag themselves up off the canvas for another round. Made 99.9% of pizzas to leave this place. That’s what I’m most proud of. Be consistent and never give up is moral of the story. Open Sunday 1-8 pm. Phones up at noon. thank you #bacimafia can’t do this without you
This is honestly how I’m feeling right now. There are no words to describe this journey or change of events. I’ve been to the absolute bottom with barely any hope. Somehow made it out and am thriving. Feel extremely blessed and want to give back. Makes me happy and I feel it’s part of my purpose. Pizzas the catalyst. Thx so much for following along. Open Thursday 11:30-2 and again 4-8 pm. #bacimafia
Ya love to see it!! God bless Dave Portnoy. Such an incredibly selfless human. Most honest man I know for a damn reason! Hard to keep up with all the amazing things he does for small businesses & pizza parlors around the world, but I'm glad I caught this one bite from him.
Giphy Images. If you wanna keep rooting on Chris at Pizzeria Baci, give a follow to his FB or IG below. Looks like he's doing a 30 hour pizza marathon this weekend to help support breast cancer awareness. The common man abides!
Although upon seeing his other posts, does make sense why he got along so well with Dave.. He's quite the showman himself. Keep on slicing with the best of 'em out there bub. And as always, VIVA.
