The Rivalry Between Minnesota And Vegas Got Extra Heated In What Appears To Be The First Makeout Of The 2026-27 NHL Season

The Vegas Golden Knights and Minnesota Wild are two of the top teams in the Western Conference. Two teams that have aspirations of hoisting the Stanley Cup over their heads in June. So in order for one of them to even have the opportunity to win the Cup, they are going to have to go through the other.

There's not a ton of history of history between Minnesota and Vegas, but they have played each other twice in the playoffs already. The Golden Knights won both of those first round matchups. They won in 7 games back in the first round of 2021, and they won in 6 games in the first round of the 2025 playoffs. So there's definitely a rivalry there, it just needs to be turned up a few notches. And what better way to spice up that rivalry than with a good ol' fashioned center ice makeout session between Wild rookie, Rieger Lorenz, and Golden Knights defenseman, Jeremy Lauzon.

"Now kiss...."

If the in-arena DJ for the Minnesota Wild had any feel for the moment, he would have thrown on a little Sixpence None The Richer after that fight.

Pretty solid tilt, too. Rieger Lorenz is just a couple of games into his NHL career, so credit to him for dropping the gloves in the first place. Lauzon definitely fed him some rights for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. He even sent him home with a little to-go box. But if the Minnesota Wild are going to be able to get through Vegas in the playoffs, they are going to need some grit in their lineup. And maybe a little tender loving as well.

And some more of this.
