"It’s Like Running Into Your Ex, Like Dang We Used To Go Together" - Jaylen Brown Summed It Up Perfectly By Comparing The Celtics To Running Into An Ex In Public
Brian Babineau. Getty Images.A new NBA season has brought change all across the league as we enter the 2026-27 campaign, and that's certainly the case when it comes to the Boston Celtics and the Philadelphia 76ers. Those two are responsible for perhaps the craziest changes of all, which is why their seasons will most likely be tied together for the foreseeable future.
Despite all the change happening around us, one thing that we know will remain constant is that Jaylen Brown is going to stream. People give him shit for it, but I love it. I hope he never stops, and not for some malicious reason. I genuinely enjoy hearing him open up and be a real person, go over film, just be a real human etc. I find it refreshing from a professional athlete, even knowing that there's a chance what he says on there will cause a shit storm on the internet/in the media.
So for the first time this season, Jaylen checked in from his stream and he kept it as real as you possibly could when it comes to him and the Boston Celtics
This is pretty much spot on. It's weird. I'm still nowhere close to being used to seeing Jaylen in a Sixers jersey, that's still weird as fuck, but I agree with his overall comparison. There's a part of me that felt the exact same way. I'd say mine was more like this
Giphy Images. But here's the other part of this whole thing.
I am a well known Jaylen Brown guy. I loved the Jays Era more than any other era that I've been alive for. I wish they were still a duo and played together for their entire careers while retiring having only played for the Celtics. But you know what?
I didn't miss him at all last night while watching the Celtics kick this shit out of the Cavs.
The team I saw rolled on like the machine they are, and they didn't even play any of their main guys

In fact, I didn't think about Jaylen once at any point during those 4 quarters. It was very similar to how I felt watching the first games without Smart after his trade.
I think it's because mentally, I've turned the page. That chapter is over, and we're onto a new Era. I'll always cherish and value what the previous era was. It brought me a championship just 2 years ago, but we live in a new world now. That's why I think Jaylen described it perfectly, because when you move on in your new relationship, you don't even think about your ex. Life moves on. I'm sure those feelings will come back whenever the Celts play the Sixers, but I'll deal with that shit when it happens.
As I've said, this is partially why this trade makes me so sick. I can't even root for Jaylen's success in his post-Celtics life. I think once we got into the Giannis Sweepstakes, most Celtics fans accepted that a trade was happening no matter what. It was where he ended up that was the twist of the knife, because now any Jaylen success means there's Sixers success and I'll never in my life root for that to happen. The whole thing that makes me feel gross considering 4 months ago I was ready for him to help the Celts win another banner, but that's how the NBA works sometimes.
P.S.
Fuck it, one last time
