Report: RFK Jr. Is Considering Aaron Rodgers As His Presidential Running Mate And The Jets QB Has Apparently "Welcomed The Overture"

When Aaron Rodgers joined the Jets there was genuine curiosity and excitement with how this was going to turn out. A future HOF QB heading over to one of the most dysfunctional franchises in the history of sports. Could he cement his legacy and bring success to an otherwise incompetent, failure of an organization? Win in New York, and you're immortal. Countless have tried, many have failed. Would Aaron be different in his conquest?

One scenario could see him being very successful there, with a front office making their moves in stride with his thinking. Trust me from experience, a motivated Rodgers looking to show he's still got MVP caliber stuff is a dangerous man on a football field. Another option would be his body fails him due in part to his old age. What if he enters the podcast game and continues to spew whatever comes out of his abnormal brain? It's possible he channels his inner John Wick and embarks on a quest to bring down Jimmy Kimmel for good. A polarizing, historically talented athletic figure like Rodgers joining forces with the New York Jets created a world of endless scenarios.

Well the injury option was the winner for season one. By far the lamest of em' all. Fans got to see all of four snaps before their hope of success blew out as fast as a candle. We were robbed of a season's worth of twists and turns, only left to experience what he'd say on McAfee's show as entertainment. Once the season ended Rodgers went onto criticize the team for letting "the bullshit that has nothing to do with winning" infect them.

So what would year two bring? How do you best change the tune of that locker room and pendulum in your favor? Getting healthy is a good start and he appears to have squared that one away, but is that enough? Alright, how's hopping into the Presidential Race as RFK Jr.'s running mate sound? Mad Libs doesn't even begin to describe the words you are about to read.

(NY Times) Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has recently approached the N.F.L. quarterback Aaron Rodgers and the former Minnesota governor and professional wrestler Jesse Ventura about serving as his running mate on an independent presidential ticket, and both have welcomed the overtures, two people familiar with the discussions said.

Mr. Kennedy said that he had been speaking with Mr. Rodgers “pretty continuously” for the past month, and that he had been in touch with Mr. Ventura since the former governor introduced him at a campaign event last month in Arizona.

We don't do politics here, but when Aaron Rodgers considers hopping into the Presidential Race then my hands are tied. We're in the content business folks. The content we'd get from that transpiring would be genuinely unreal. I never knew I needed something more than Aaron Rodgers leaving the Jets after four snaps to join the presidential race. This needs to happen. It's the perfect storyline. By far the most Jets thing to ever happen, and there have been some doozies. If you don't buy that he's serious just check out his quote tweet of RFK the other day.

I loved this part of the NY Times article

It is not clear how running for the second-highest office in the land would work with his day job. He said recently that he hoped to play in the N.F.L. for “two or three or four more years.” It would also not be the first time Mr. Rodgers sought to add a side gig to his football career. In 2021, while playing for the Packers, he was among those who auditioned to be the host of the quiz show “Jeopardy!”

It's unclear how Rodgers plans to run for VP of the United States and play for the Jets. What a sentence. Maybe he skips the first few months and if doesn't become Vice President of the United States he returns mid-November. Could that be why the Jets gave Tyrod Taylor a two year deal today? Something to consider. Also it's incredible that they're roping in a presidential run as a similar side venture to hosting the gameshow Jeopardy.

Can't you see it though? They just play Rodgers running out of the MetLife tunnel holding the American flag during all of their ad campaigns.

I hate politics and pretty much just tune it all out. I barely know who RFK Jr. even is, but I need these two running together like I need air to breathe.

As for Jets fans? Yeah if your all-world, HOF QB savior leaves the team to try and become VP of the United States I think that's enough for you to be allowed to jump ship to another team. Normally I'd only allow that if your team moves cities like the Rams, but this probably counts just the same. Joe Douglas and Robert Saleh pushing all their chips into the middle for Rodgers, only to watch him join forces with RFK Jr. as they try to win the Presidency would be all-time.

What a world.
