Washington State QB Cam Ward Reportedly Has Up To 10 Seven-Figure Offers To Transfer

In the NIL era, if you're a good quarterback at a program a step or two below the big boys, they're gonna come calling at some point. That seems to be the case for Washington State QB Cam Ward, who Brock Huard says has multiple $1 million offers to transfer that include Notre Dame, Oregon and Washington.

I don't necessarily love that this is the way things work now, but it just is what it is. Until players are classified as employees and get a cut of media rights revenue, the current NIL model that definitely isn't pay-for-play will continue and the numbers are only going to increase. Teams like Notre Dame and Oregon might just keep essentially signing grad transfer quarterbacks to one-year contracts until they land an elite high school prospect to build around for multiple years.

Ward is a hell of a player, though. With the way everything is going to dramatically change next season, I wouldn't hate seeing him in the Big Ten or SEC competing for a national title rather than at Washington State in the two-team Pac-12. If this report is true, I guess we'll see if Ward would rather be a campus legend in Pullman or a millionaire playing for one of the premier brands in college football — seems like a pretty easy decision, but maybe he's a much better man than I.
