Credit to Arizona. They earned it. The first inning actually said it all. Diamondbacks grind one out Top 1 and the response? Worse than nada. Can’t have Schwarber look at a 3-1 fastball directly down the cock and strike out before Bryce swings at everything out of the zone for another K. Can't have that.
There were plenty of chances to alter things. The bullshit that is the Toyota Rav-4 4th inning was something. Mr. Red October Castellanos forgot how to swing a stick and was unable to get a runner home from 3rd and 1 out before Johan Rojas, actually hitting aka not getting pinch hit for, striking out with the bases juiced. The very next inning you can question not walking Corbin Carroll with a base open and that decision leading to a cool 2 Diamondbacks runs. Schwarber leads off the 6th with a double and guess what? He gets left at 2nd. Oh and then 1st and 2nd with 1 out in the 7th with Trea Turner up and nope. Then Bryce. The hero Philadelphia needs and deserves. I couldn't believe it. They actually threw something hittable to Bryce. Fast ball right down the dick. Twice.

And it still couldn't happen. That was pretty much all she wrote.
It's sad. The Phillies still had a great season and are off the charts likable. And that makes it all the more sad. You'd think being a Philly sports fan would make us numb to pain by now. But, nope. Still stings as bad as ever. They'll be plenty of talk on if this season was a disappointment or a success and I think the tempers are a little too high to have a fair discussion. Just relish in the fact that destiny apparently doesn't exist.
Go Birds.
