Art and Tom were total strangers when they met at the country club and, after realizing they had a lot in common, started playing golf together. 

They both got out of work early one Thursday afternoon and were trying to get in a quick eighteen holes, but there were two women golfers in front of them who were taking forever to play each hole… 

Art was growing impatient, so he turned to Tom and said, "We'll be here all day. Why don't you go over there and see if it's okay with them if we play through…"

Tom got about halfway before he immediately turned and came right back. Art looked at him surprised and asked, "What's wrong, Tom? Why didn't you ask 'em?"

With a nervous look on his face, Tom came clean. "One of them is my wife, and the other is my mistress…" 

Art totally understood his golf partner's dilemma. "That could be a big problem, Tom. Okay, I'll go over there…" 

Art got about halfway before he immediately turned and came right back, too. 

Tom was surprised and asked, "What's wrong, Art? Why didn't you ask 'em?"
