Nothing To See Here. Just Joel Embiid Saying He Wants "To Win A Championship...Whether That's In Philly Or Anywhere Else"

I mean...that's it, right? That there does it.

Think about any other champion in professional sports. How many of those guys have ever openly considered winning a championship with any other team in the league and then go on to win one with the team they're currently on? I'd say none of them ever. Not to get all doom and gloom here on a Monday morning, but that's the beginning of the end.

And you know what? You can't blame Joel one bit for feeling that way. Obviously you can put some blame him for not winning that first championship here in Philly already. There have been organizational failures here with the Sixers. There have been coaching failures here with the Sixers. But there have also been plenty of Joel Embiid failures. With that being said, it's not like the Sixers have done a ton this offseason to make sure he doesn't feel like yet another season of his career is going to be wasted here in 2023-24. Hiring Nick Nurse is great and everything but this team hasn't done anything to make them better. If anything they probably look worse on paper heading into this season.

Guy just wants to win a championship at this point, and it's getting harder to see that being a possibility in Philly. It would be like a great chef wanting to get a Michelin star but working at Taco Bell. It's only a matter of time before something has to give here. Either Daryl Morey uses the next few weeks to turn this into the greatest Taco Bell the world has ever seen, or you have to trade Embiid to at least get a couple new ovens to build around.
