What's Better Than Seeing All Your Favorite Bands While Growing Up??? Seeing All Your Favorite Bands Now!!!

I was perusing Twitter yesterday when I saw a tweet that stopped me in my tracks- the Tweet was promoting a new summer tour consisting of All American Rejects, New Found Glory, Motion City Soundtrack, The Starting Line, and Get Up Kids. And then it dawned- I'm that age. We're officially, officially, OFFICIALLY THAT AGE. What age? The age when the bands we liked as kids, as teens, come back around into style because we can now afford to buy tickets to their shows. It's amazing. I never thought about it like that, but it makes so much sense why so many bands/singers have so much longevity. You get super popular and tour. For some, or I guess for most, popularity dwindles. You keep your core fanbase, but man, it's HARD to bands to stay popular and relevant for a sustainable amount of time. There's only so many RCHPs or Green Days or Foo Fighters. They are very few and far between. But then, as I've come to realize, it's cyclical. I'm 34, soon to turn 35. And everyone my age has a job and supplemental income now and wants to see the bands we loved as kids but our parents wouldn't take us to (or let us see).

And this Summer, brother, there are a TON of em:

And guess what? I missed EVEN MORE! Add:

- Dashboard/Counting Crows

- All Time Low/MayDay Parade

- Jimmy Eat World/Manchester Orchestra

- Paramore

and of course OAR and Goo Goo Dolls (doesn't fit the emo/pop punk theme, but god damn that's an awesome tour).

I still don't have Taylor Swift tickets, by the way. Hey GameTime, sup!!!

But I digress. It's pretty cool to be able to spend money on things like concerts of bands you've loved the majority of your life. When I think about it, the first time I heard Blink was when I was what…11 years old? Seeing Mark and Tom reunited is going to be legendary. Seeing Fall Out Boy, Simple Plan, NFG, all of em. For the first time I can say it in a good way- I guess this is growing up.

PS: Starting Line rules. Feel like they get lost in the shuffle but "Say It Like You Mean It" bangs front to back. And Jimmy Eat World is one of my favorite bands of all time, and I've yet to see them live.

PS2: I wrote about a bunch of these bands in this blog:

PS3: Hope Blink does some +44, Box Car Racer, and Angels and Airwaves songs. "There Is" could be the best song of all time.
