Kansas City Star- Police are investigating allegations that the younger brother of Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes assaulted a waiter and the owner of an Overland Park restaurant last weekend.

In separate incidents, Jackson Mahomes, 22, allegedly shoved the 19-year-old male waiter more than once and later forcibly kissed the 40-year-old female owner of Aspens Restaurant and Lounge, 6995 W. 151st St.

Police have been evaluating the establishment’s surveillance video recordings from last Saturday night as part of their investigation, restaurant owner Aspen Vaughn told The Star.

“The Police Department is aware of an incident that occurred on Feb. 25, 2023, at a business near 151st and Metcalf. The department is still investigating. Releasing any additional information would be inappropriate at this time. Anyone with information should contact the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-TIPS.”

An attorney for Jackson Mahomes provided the following statement: “Jackson has done nothing wrong,” Brandan Davies said. “Our investigation has revealed substantial evidence refuting the claims of Jackson’s accuser including the statements of several witnesses. We have reached out to law enforcement to provide the fruit of our investigation so that they may have a complete picture of the matter.”

I think this is the last story any of us expected to wake up to on this fine Saturday morning. But here we are.

Some horses just aren’t meant to be tamed. And some guys are just bad to the bone.

Often called “the black sheep” of the Mahomes family, is it really any wonder Jackson also plays the role of “that guy” at restaurants?

In an interview and a series of followup texts with The Star, Aspen Vaughn recounted the events of last Saturday, which the waiter also backed up. She also provided a video purportedly showing Jackson Mahomes grabbing her by the throat and kissing her at least twice in her office shortly after 10 p.m.

His advances were unwelcome and shocking, she said, and she believes he was intoxicated. “He forcibly kissed me out of nowhere,” Vaughn said, “and I’m telling him, pushing him off saying ‘what are you doing?’ and then he proceeded to do it two more times where the last time I was pushing him off and I can see on the cameras that somebody was outside the office door and I was yelling for them to come help because he’s big and massive.”

At 6 foot 6, Mahomes is more than a foot taller than Vaughn, who is 5 foot 4.

(Sidebar - Jackson Mahomes is 6’6”??? Holy shit.)

But he has been disruptive during some of the more than 10 times he visited Aspens, she said, and treated the staff poorly. “I would say one out of four times he comes in, it’s not a good experience,” she said.

Hitting for power, like Jackson Mahomes does, in the sport of being an asshole, comes with give and take. Just like baseball. You can’t go yard every AB, and you trade those giant, viral moments for a lot of duds, (or strike outs). That’s the offset. So him hitting .250 at shit-headedness at his friend’s moms restaurant is par for the course.

The group then went into the VIP room upstairs. When Vaughn smelled the odor of marijuana drifting from that room, “I put my head in there and said, ‘hey, I can smell this, we have a party of 40 right out here and this can’t occur in the restaurant.’”

Shortly after 10, Vaughn said Mahomes asked to speak with her privately about the shoving incident, and that is when he allegedly grabbed her neck in that basement office with enough force that it left a faint bruise that is evident in a photograph she provided The Star.

“I was in shock,” she said. “It’s disgusting,” she said she told Mahomes. “Like you’re a child and he was trying to say ‘we should be a power couple, and I’m like ‘clearly you’re out of your mind right now.’”

Not to make light of assault, but this guy telling her they should be a power couple is so on brand for JaMo (Jackson Mahomes, I just came up with that, nbd) it hurts.

I for sure had him pegged as a guy who was into the younger, more social media obsessed, more look-at-me types.

This just further proves you can never judge a book by its cover.

However, it really comes as no surprise that JaMo is a horrible restaurant customer. Like zero. Talk about a fucking walking nightmare.

If I know Jackson like I think I do, I picture him like this:

Never makes a reservation. Doesn’t even bother to text a manager or the owner ahead of time either to give a heads up. Just shows up on a Saturday night with a crew of 10 and expects a table.

Guy probably snaps his fingers at the servers, shouts “hey”, and tries to ask the busboys to fetch him another drink.

(If you’re one of these people, fuck yourself)

He probably needs to make adjustments to every single item he orders, because he’s gluten free, has a self diagnoses celiac disorder, dairy free because he has a self diagnosed lactose intolerance, and likes his red meat cooked well done. Steak sauce (and ketchup) on everything too.

He probably sends everything back, including drinks, ("this isn’t strong enough"), and encourages his friends to do the same.

He expects everything to be comped, because he’s a celebrity in his own mind, is insulted when it’s not and he’s presented with a check (it’s discounted), and he never tips. (It’s a privilege for them that we come here).

Just the absolute, absolute worst.

Good for Aspen Vaughn for standing up for herself and her employees and attempting to put an end to this assholes antics.
