After Nine Seasons In The Two Tone Blue The Titans Have Released The Boy, Taylor Lewan

Tough day for the boys as Taylor Lewan was released by the Titans after an incredible 9-year career in Nashville. As a Titans fan since I was little I can't thank Taylor enough for the efforts he put in on and off the field. Along with guys like Delanie Walker, Ben Jones, and Jeffrey Simmons they really changed the culture of the organization. First round pick, 3 time pro bowler and the highest paid LT in history, Lewan came to the Titans when they were in a very, very bad spot and helped dig them out. From 2-14 his rookie year to an AFC Championship game in 2019, Taylor was the backbone of a team that played tough, hard-nosed football and just straight up beat the hell out of guys on the field. Moments like this one below are why he became a fan favorite. 

Lewan has had trouble with injuries over the past few years, tearing his ACL in 2020 and then again this year after just 2 games. There was also the PED suspension. It's been a rocky road at times for 77, but I'm damn glad he was a Titan for as long as he was. When he was at his best there weren't many better than him. Keep in mind he helped Derrick Henry rush for some monster numbers over the years with some terrible QBs under center. Henry doesn't get 2K without Lewan and company, plain and simple. 

Now this release doesn't come as a surprise to Taylor as he openly talked about it on Bussin and Pardon My Take earlier this year.  When you look at the $14.8 million the Titans saved by cutting him, you figured it was a lock to happen. 

I don't know what this means for the podcast, I'll obviously leave that up to the guys to say. Lewan has also been openly courted and possibly tampered with by Jersey Jerry about going to the Steelers, but he's also mentioned calling it a career if he can't play for the Titans. Maybe he just drives the bus up to Chicago with the new crew? Regardless I think Taylor has a lot of good football left in him, just have to hope his body lets him play. 

Hopefully he gets another job somewhere and shows he still has some gas left in the tank, but until then I'll be replaying the video of him owning Josh Norman. Easily one of my favorite Titans all time with Eddie George, Steve McNair, Kevin Dyson, Derrick Henry and others. Big hugs, tiny kisses for ya 77.
