Packers Need OT To Survive Against The Pats Despite New England Being Down To Their 3rd String Rookie QB Bailey Zappe

They may have won the game, but the main takeaway from this one is how Green Bay's supposed great defense gave up 24 points to a Bailey Zappe led Patriots offense. UGLY. With how loaded and talented this defense is, that should not be in the realm of possible. I didn't even know Bailey Zappe was a human being coming into this game. Before I realized Hoyer was getting evaluated by the medical staff my buddy who is a Pats fan texted me "BAILEY ZAPPE, you're fucked." I genuinely had no idea what sport he was talking about or if that was even a sports comment. 24 points with that guy under center is beyond inexcusable. Joe Barry what the fuck are we doing pal?

Rodgers and the offense woke up in the second half and managed to send the game to OT. Gotta imagine throwing this pick 6 to end the first half lit a fire under Rodgers to stop playing like an asshole.

I'm sure Jerry is going to get into this, but the Pats punt in overtime from the GB 46 was a controversial one. The Surrender Index categorized it as cowardly.

Now of course that isn't factoring in Bailey Zappe at QB. You can only ask so much from a guy who never in a million years thought he'd be taking high leverage snaps this season. I'm sure people will say Bill has lost his fastball, but you gotta factor in the QB you are relying on to get you those 5 yards.

A win is a win, but my god do the Packers have a lot of work to do if they're gonna be a real contender this year. Credit to Belichick for sure, but Green Bay played their C- game today. First and foremost the defense has to play like the top 5-10 unit they were expected to be. Missing Jaire hurt, but that's not an excuse for the performance today. Clean it up Joe Barry. Also LaFleur with that challenge on the bomb to Doubs late in the 4th? Clearly a drop and it cost the Packers a valuable timeout.

Green Bay was sloppy on every single facet of the game and they're lucky as fuck to come out of this with a W.

Next up? London where teams with winning records will square off the first time in the game's history.
