Now the Gossip Rags are Saying Tom Brady is 'Sad' Over His 'Serious Disagreement' with Gisele

It is with a heavy heart that I take time out of your holiday weekend, and more importantly mine, to bring you this story. But we in the blogging business don't create the news. We merely swore a blood oath to follow it wherever it leads. And I am compelled to fulfill that oath.

Someone who is apparently close enough to the World's Mightiest Power Couple to know about their personal life has been talking to the World's Most Influential Gossip Site:

… and is still talking.

Source - Tom Brady is very “sad” over his huge spat with wife Gisele Bündchen but insiders say he is focusing on being “super dad” to his children.

Page Six exclusively revealed the model has left their family compound in Tampa, Fla., for Costa Rica following a series of heated arguments over Brady’s shock decision to un-retire from the NFL. He has remained behind for team training.

Sources say Brady, 45, is taking care of his and  Bündchen’s children. ….

A source told us of Brady, “He’s very sad at the moment. Friends know they’ve had a serious disagreement this time.

“It seems that Gisele gets mad and says things like she’s leaving him, but in the past, they’ve always made up. But maybe this time it is more serious.

“He’s with the kids, and is just trying to be super dad.”

Now before you start in on how this is between a married couple and just because he's an NFL quarterback doesn't make this anybody's business but their own, I'll say this. I'd agree with you if this was just your garden variety QB. If we're talking about some guy with 30 NFL starts who was like 25th in passer rating and married a coed he met in college. This is the furthest thing from that. We are talking about a demigod who has been in the process of defying everything our scientists thought they knew about the limits of athletic performance and human winning. His wife is the most successful supermodel humanity has ever produced. At one point a few years ago, the world stopped while she and she alone strode across the stadium at the Olympics Opening Ceremony with the famed "Horse Walk" she invented. Figures don't get more public than these two. Besides, they've shared so much of their private lives for so long, that toothpaste can't get back in the tube now.

More to the point, this is a football story. The underlying premise of the reported tension between them is that Gisele is upset over Brady's decision to unretire and chase that unthinkable eighth ring. His decision recalibrated the entire NFL landscape. If he's supposedly paying a hefty price for it at home, one that's going to impact his whole approach to football, it matters to us all. After all, quarterbacks don't just take 11 days off in the middle of training camp to finish up their summer reading lists. If Brady is truly as sad as this insider is saying, we can expect a ripple effect. One that could affect wins and losses, football gambling and Fantasy points. It counts.

All that said, just on a human level, you have to feel for the man. All he wanted to do was make his oft-stated dream of playing until he's 45 come true. His final game of last season featured one of his signature comebacks, from down 27-3 to the Rams midway through the 3rd to tying it up at 27-27 in the final minute. Until his defense couldn't make a stop on the final drive and lost it for him. Despite his age, he was just voted the No. 1 player in the NFL by his peers. He feels good. He looks better than he did when he was 25 as he continues to Benjamin Button his way through life. So you can understand why he decided to return.

But it comes at a cost. You can also understand why Gisele would be done with this life. They don't need the money. She for sure doesn't need the risks to her husband's well being. Their kids are still young. This is more about Brady trying to improve what is already the greatest legacy in the history of his sport out of some psychological and spiritual need that no one but he can comprehend. So it's hard to find fault in either of them.

For now, I think we can all be sad for Brady as he goes through this. Having to both lead a team and be a de facto single dad. Making the kids' lunches. Getting them on the school bus. Then having to race to work for meetings and practice. Then afterwards it's time to get the kids off to soccer, put dinner on the table, make sure their homework is done, and then watch film of Dan Quinn's 3rd & long subpackages. All the while hoping you can patch things up with your soulmate. No one asks for this. But such is the nature of married life. The really good couples find a way to make it work. I for one believe they will too.

And for what it's worth, in case you doubt the truth of this report, the last time Gisele posted anything with her husband in it was on his birthday. So over a month ago. As the NY Post's gossip site put it, "if you don't want it on Page Six, don't do it." I'm calling this story plausible.
