'Ted 2' Star Tom Brady Will Produce And Appear In A New Road Trip Comedy

Paramount Pictures has acquired worldwide rights to 80 for Brady from Endeavor Content, who will produce the film.

Seven-time Super Bowl Champion and producer Tom Brady will appear and produce through his production company, 199 Productions, alongside Oscar winner Donna Gigliotti (Hidden Figures) and Endeavor Content (The Lost Daughter, Cha Cha Real Smooth). Endeavor Content developed the film with Brady and Gigliotti.

The feature project is inspired by the true story of four best-friends and New England Patriots fans who take a lifechanging trip to the 2017 Super Bowl LI to see their hero Tom Brady play, and the chaos that ensues as they navigate the wilds of the biggest sporting event in the country.

Brady is a guy that I just can't see being content with being retired for even a second. Spending time with family? Chillin in his mansion with his supermodel wife? Fuck that. He's gotta be up and doing something for basically every second he is awake. I assumed this would come in the form of football camps, maybe announcing or more investment in nutrition/fitness programs. Well, I was wrong. Like me, Brady is obviously a big fan of the cinema except he has the means to get involved. I say bravo, Mr. Brady!

The actual story this is based on seems cool and there is obviously a ton of drama involved. Making that trip all the way from MA to Houston just to see your team get destroyed in the first half is pretty devastating. And the roller coaster of going from that to one of the greatest comebacks in professional sports history is awesome. Here is my issue, though. I will have a lot of trouble having empathy for Patriots fans.

Am i supposed to feel bad for Patriots fans in literally any capacity? Even old ones that made that long road trip? I DON'T! If they had lost I would not feel an ounce of sympathy for them having to trek all the way back to enjoy the 4 rings they already had. 

I will note that the cast is undeniably stacked. Lilly Tomlin, Jane Fonda, Rita Moreno and Sally Field are all Oscar winners. Do I associate any of them with traditional comedy? Tomlin, yes. The rest of them…not really. This feels to me like Wild Hoggettes with a super bowl twist. However, this is made by the duo that made dramedy I liked, 'The Climb' so i'll reserve any hesitations for now.
