Construction has begun in Manchester to prepare the set for the sixth season of Peaky Blinders, new pictures revealed on Friday.

The cast are currently hard at work filming in snowy Scotland, but they are shortly set to return to the city for new scenes and crew are busy transforming its historic Castlefield district into Birmingham ahead of their arrival.

Wooden scaffolds have been built underneath a Victorian railway bridge, seemingly to mimic a work station for builders during the period, while a variety of vintage signs have been spotted around the district

LET'S. FUCKING. GO. That fucking CUNT Coronavirus delayed season 6 on us, but the Shelby crew is FINALLY balls deep in filming season 6. It's a February 12th miracle!!!

Full disclosure, I rewatched Peaky Blinders recently. It was the third time I've watched the series straight through since it's inception in 2013, and I truly think I've loved it more each time I've watched it as I've A.) learned how to sort of decipher their accents and dialects and B.) picked up on new plot points each watch through because I can understand their tongue better the more I watch it.

I'm not kidding when I say this, but I don't believe it gets the love it deserves. Yeah, everyone loves it. But I don't feel like anyone puts it on the pantheon of all time greats with Sopranos, GoT, The Wire, etc. and ya know what? It could be argued that it absolutely belongs on the list of all time great series should it stick its landing in season 6. I am not embellishing when I say that; the story line and the acting is that fantastic.

I wrote about Alfie Solomons, played by Tom Hardy, a few weeks back. You can read that blog here.

Again, I am not embellishing when I say this, but it's one of the finest acting performances I've ever seen, in TV or film. He is incredible in that role. The accent, the cunningness, the witty comebacks and the hilarious use of the word "cunt". His performance in the show is jaw dropping and he should have run out of real estate in his living quarters for the amount of awards he should have won for his portrayal of Alfie Solomons.

Then we get to Arthur Shelby.

This fucking psychopath is the perfect foil to Tommy's cool and collected demeanor; just a loose cannon filled to the brim with blinding rage and blinding loyalty that will do anything and everything for his family, even if it means pushing his personal pride and opinion aside. Getchu a man in your crew that will go to war for you at the drop of a hat. That's Arthur Shelby

And then, THEN we get to the main man. Cillian Murphy aka Tommy Shelby.

Truly one of TV's all time great protagonists. The dude is so goddamn chill 90% of the time and is as sharp as a fucking samurai sword. One of my idiot coworkers in Chicago drafted Tony Soprano as a great leader in a snake draft a while back and ya know what I say? FUCK that. Gimme Tommy Shelby's leadership qualities all day every day over Tony Soprano. Tony Soprano was an ego trip that ended up getting whacked because he was a cunt. Tommy Shelby will hear all sides of an argument and act accordingly. THAT, my friends, is a great leader.

Anyways - I couldn't be more excited for season (series as the call it in the UK) 6 of Peaky Blinders. I haven't been this excited for series finale since GoT season 8, but we all know how that went. Praying to God Peaky Blinders' writers don't fuck up as well, but I have a strong feeling they won't if we're going off how great season 5 was.

And speaking of season 5, it had one of the most brutal scenes I've ever seen in a TV show or movie.

SPOILER ALERT

I'm talking about the scene where Aberama Gold's son, a boxer, was crucified then shot in the head by the Billy Boys while Aberama himself was watching:

Sure, there have been scenes in movie and TV and film that had more blood and guts and where a more prevalent character was whacked. But to watch a father watch his son get crucified and shot in the head? Absolutely fucking gut wrenching. It was just so…. real. I can't really explain it. I mean I watched a billion heads get cut off in Thrones and this one makes my stomach curl WAY more than any of those.

I went on a tangent there. I just really love the Peaky Blinders for myriad reasons and if you haven't watched it, you need to asap because before we know it the 6th and final season will be here. That's the strongest recommendation I can give to anyone with this shit bag weather right now. We don't have a confirmed release date yet and we're still in the middle of production, but seriously get caught up on the show if you're not already. You won't regret it. It's A+ television in every single way.
