THE BRUINS RALLY FROM A 2 GOAL DEFICIT TO BEAT THE FLYERS!

The Bruins offense? Alive. It took until the 3rd period of tonight's game, but once Jack Studnicka got things going, the floodgates opened for the boys. The Flyers had a 2-0 lead heading into the final frame, but the B's rattled off 4 goals (including their first 5v5 goal of the season) and Jake DeBrusk scored the lone goal in the SO for the dub. Chaotic energy. Let's get into it.

1st period:

Stop if you've heard this before, but the Bruins dominated much of the 1st period, outshooting the Flyers, but had nothing to show for it. 0-0 after 1.

2nd period:

Claude Giroux opened the scoring with an absolute snipe on the PP (Philly's 5th shot of the game) with David Krejci in the box for high sticking. 1-0 Flyers

James van Riemsdyk extended the Flyers lead seconds after Anders Bjork came out of the penalty box late in the 2nd. 2-0 Flyers.

3rd period:

The Bruins got on the board with an early goal from Jack Studnicka. His 1st career goal. 2-1 Flyers.

Charlie Coyle fired home the equalizer to make it 2-2. 2 goals for the Bruins in a minute and 9 seconds.

The B's thought they had flipped the ice but Travis Sanhiem regained the lead for the Flyers. Puck redirected off his shinpad and in. Such a infuriating goal. Bruins with all the momentum but the Flyers took the 3-2 lead.

Nick Ritchie came through with the game-tying goal on the PP. Great feed from Bergeron to find him open. 3-3.

Brandon Carlo gave the Bruins their first lead of the game, what a rocket. 4-3 Bruins.

The B's lead was short lived after a brutal crosschecking penalty by Sean Kuraly (total sell job) led to a Flyers PP. Of course they scored to tie a minute and 10 seconds after Carlo's goal. 4-4.

OT:

Tuukka Rask stood on his god damn head for the B's in OT to send it to a SO. 5 massive saves.

SO:

Jake DeBrusk with the lone SO goal and boy was it a beauty.

FINAL: Boston 5, Philadelphia 4 (SO)

News, notes and quotes:

- Ondrej Kase once again not in the lineup (upper body) and Bruce Cassidy honeslty don't know when he'll be back. Not great but the lines were the same as they were vs. NYI.

- Jack Studnicka potted his 1st career goal early in the 3rd to open the floodgates for the Bruins. Congrats to Studs.

- I mean 2021 really might be the year of Nick Ritchie. He's been outstanding to start the season. 2 point night (1G, 1A), nearly had a 2nd goal. He's been great. Using his body real well in front of the net.

- Can't emphasize enough how sick I am of how many penalties the B's have taken this year. I know it's early in the season but they gotta clean it up.

- Matt Grzelcyk went hard into the boards late in the game. Played through it. But man has he been banged up to start the year. Hope he'll be okay. Cassidy said that he held him out of OT due to his discomfort. Hopefully he'll be good to go on Saturday.

- Charlie Coyle got his 1st goal of the season a minute after Jack Studnicka's goal in the 3rd. I think him and Smith are starting to develop some chemistry. Tough start with Smith with that LBI but he's shooting the puck and he's generating some chances.

- Nice to see JD get the SO winner. I think he's still finding his game with Marchand and Bergeron but that's gotta bode well for his confidence. What a filthy goal.

- Tuukka Rask was lights out, especially in OT. About 5 key saves in OT to even send the Bruins to a SO. 3 saves in the SO. Great game from Rask (despite the SV%, Flyers didn't have a ton of SOG).

- We're 4 games into the season and the Bruins have won 2 games via shootout. What year is it?

ps. I called it.

B's are back at it against the Flyers once again on Saturday night. Jaro Halak will get the start in net.

It was a great night to win a hockey game.
