To the Barstool Fund,
My name is Bill Herchuck and I’m the owner of the Atlas Pub & Kitchen, a neighborhood bar in Chicopee, Massachusetts. I heard about the Barstool Fund from my sons who are big fans of Barstool. My family opened the bar 40 years ago and we were doing well until this year. Once COVID hit we were forced to close our doors due to state orders. While restaurants opened back up we had to stay closed since we didn’t serve food. After much thought we decided to invest in a kitchen to get our doors back open. Even after reopening, business is down and my dedicated employees are hurting. I want to do right by my employees and loyal customers by continuing to stay open, but with the new expenses of building a kitchen and hiring kitchen staff it is making it harder to do. I have taken over running our new kitchen to keep costs down, but working over 60 hours a week in my retirement is really taking a toll on me physically and mentally.
I take great pride in this bar and the legacy we have built in the past 40 years. I had dreamed of passing the bar down to my sons, but now we are struggling and hold a very uncertain future. I’m not one to ask for help, but now we are in need. As a retired Springfield firefighter we live by the motto “no man left behind” and I would hate to have to leave this bar behind.
I admire the work you’re doing for small businesses. Stepping up the way you have is praiseworthy.
I appreciate you taking the time to watch our video and read this email.
Thank you for your help,
Bill Herchuck
