Eminem & Kid Cudi Debut Collab "The Adventures Of Moon Man And Slim Shady"

It's really cool to hate on everything today. The more people like something or someone the better.

But I'm not about that game.

I'm sure a lot of people saw Eminem and the still underrated Kid Cudi (not sure why) trending last night and rolled their eyes without even giving the song a listen. Or clicked on this blog doing the same.

I actually don't mind this song.

Is it a Billboard Top Ten?

Nope.

Is it a club anthem or radio jam?

Nope.

It's just a good song by two really fucking good artists.

It's new and unique, and better yet, it's a rap song in 2020 you can actually understand the words each of them is saying.

If you're still reading, the song is obviously controversial. It's an Eminem song. That's what he does.

For example -

 Got a lil' green (Yeah),
but I don't do weed (Nope)/Purp nor lean (Nah),
that's Tunechi (Yeah)/That's New Orleans (Yeah),
fuck Drew Brees (Yeah).

Exhibit A right there.

Classic Eminem shot, one I feel was unnecessary but one he felt was totally necessary.

And that's what I love about Eminem. He's never changed. In 21 years (on the map) amongst all the fabricated bullshit that is American music, he hasn't caved into the studio execs, or social media heroes, or chased influencer status. He doesn't give a fuck what you or I or anyone thinks still to this day. He raps about what he believes (right or wrong) and isn't a fence sitter.

At the very very least you have to respect him for that.

He continues -

Fuck going on man? (Yeah)
Bunch of half wits up in office
Half of us walkin' around like a zombie apocalypse
Other half are just pissed off and don't wanna wear a mask
And they're just scoffin'
And that's how you end catchin' the sick off 'em
I just used the same basket as you shoppin'
Now I'm in a fuckin' casket from you coffin'

Prayers to George Floyd and Ahmaud Arbery
How the fuck is it that so many cops dirty
Stop man please officer I'm sorry
But I can't breathe when I got you on top of me
Your god damn knee's in my carotid artery

Exhibit B.

Agree or disagree the lyrics invoke some sort of feeling when you hear them. They get people talking, and thinking. Which is the entire point of art. (There's a major difference between robotic/hypnotic pop music today and art). And which is more than you can say for 99% of music and content that gets put out onto the airwaves today.

Eminem produced the track (which you can tell by the kick drums and bass line reminiscent of the Tupac & Biggie track "Runnin'" he produced

along with Dot Da Genius, who has produced some smashes for Cudi in the past, including fire jam "Day n Nite"

Glad to have Cudi back mentally healthy and making music. (And his upcoming TV show with Kanye)

This track marks what is planned to be a 3 part "trilogy" collaboration between the two rappers.
