Big Brother 21 Week 4 Power Rankings: GR8FUL Becomes H8FUL

(Note: These will start going out on Fridays after each eviction episode so that there’s a fresh slate each week.)

A fellow Big J based out of San Diego once said, “Boy, that escalated quickly.” We knew the fireworks were inevitable after a slow, chalky start to the season, and we sure got them this week.

Less than 48 hours ago I fired away on my first Big Brother blog of the summer, and sooo much has changed since then. Don’t get me wrong, the numbers haven’t quite shifted yet, but let’s just say we can bet that the “America’s Favorite Houseguest” winner on finale night of $25,000 certainly won’t be going to Jack or Bella.

There is some serious bullying going on in the house. We knew an eight or nine-person alliance wouldn’t last long (actually, clique might be the right word), but the house’s majority has taken this to the next level.

The GR(H8)FUL pact is most likely no more after leaving Nick, Bella, and Sam in the dark with this vote. Instead the rest of the original alliance (Jack, Michie, Analyse, Holly, Christie, Tommy) are the true power holders, not to mention having both Whacktivity powers in their corner as well.

Keep in mind these rankings only reflect where each houseguest currently stands in the GAME right now. Personalities aside (Jack and Bella fighting for last), they are still on the right side of the numbers for the most part. Away we go…

1. Tommy (Last week: 2): Many cards were shown this week, yet Tommy is still holding pocket aces and nobody is suspecting it. He is a part of the newly-formed “Six Shooters” alliance and has the no target on his back right now. His friendly vibes will continue to charm the house, and a win or two in a competition certainly won’t hurt, either.

2. Sam (3): Although Sam is not one of the “shooters,” he moves up this week due to his versatility. What makes him unique is that he is the only one in the majority who isn’t in a power couple position, which means he really isn’t in the spotlight. When the alphas begin to turn on each other, it’ll most likely be Sam who is in the power position of the “swing vote” at a future, crucial point in the game.

3. Holly (6): Look at some recent winners: Kaycee (Level Six), Derrick (The Hitmen), and Ian (Quack Pack). What do they all have in common? They were all in a powerful alliance, yet each of them laid low in the early stages of the game. That’s exactly what Holly is doing right now. She is in a fine position in the power six and is far from the biggest target within that group.

4. Analyse (5): As mentioned in the last blog, “Sis” and Holly are playing very similar games. We are due for an endurance HOH competition soon enough, which could be the opportunity Sis needs to get the ball rolling on making some power moves.

5. Christie (1): What a damn roller coaster ride this woman rode this week. The positives: she won the Diamond Power of Veto in the Whacktivity Comp and started to orchestrate last night’s Cliff blindside. The negatives: She told Nick and Bella (who are not part of the “Shooters”) about the aforementioned Diamond POV with the hopes of covering up maybe one of the biggest panic attacks in the history of the show. Let’s be real, where the heck did this come from?? There was absolutely no true reasoning to think she would be the replacement nominee. Her paranoia could lead to future danger. Brussels Sprouts.

6. Kathryn (10): Kat impressed me this week. Although she still currently sits on the wrong side of the numbers, it seems like the Texan is starting to figure out just that. The good news for her is that she has already tried and failed making moves with Michie, so it’s time for her to go all in with either Nick/Bella/Sam or the outsiders. She also let everyone know while casting her vote in the DR that she is smarter than she may lead on.

7. Michie (7): The best thing going for Michie right now is that he, well, isn’t Jack. Unless something crazy happens, it seems like 24-year old remains a secondary target. Again, you can say what you want about who each houseguest is as a person, but in terms of the game, Michie is still in a solid spot as of right now.

8. Jack (8): Remember Aaryn from Season 15? Yeah, the one who got booed by the live studio audience walking out the door. Well, Jack is probably a live favorite by the folks at Bovada to receive a similar treatment. Whether it was the Blender Bottle incident with Kemi, telling Ovi when he can or can’t enter a room, or the incident floating around social media from the live feeds with David, Jack didn’t gain many BB fans sitting at home this week. But as long as the rest of the “Six Shooters” have his back, he shouldn’t be in too much trouble this week, of course depending on how the HOH plays out.

9. Nicole (11): Huge! The first blindside of the season works out to her advantage. Of course, she is still in the minority, but Nicole now has at least another week to try to convince everyone outside the “shooters” that she has been telling the truth all along. Given the way “Unde9able” foolishly acted and ganged up against her, it’ll be tough. But one small crack could be Nicole’s opening.

10. Nick (4): It has to be a tough feeling when your target as HOH doesn’t go home. It must be worse when your “alliance” leaves you out cold in the decision-making. But you know what’s even worse? When both happen in the same week! A very poor HOH reign for what some call Hank’s doppelgänger (I kind of see it). Can only imagine the havoc he is going to raise with this one. Come Sunday night, he will most likely be providing the good content.

11. Jessica (9): Jessica got pulled off the block and then stayed relatively quiet the rest of the week. Smart move, given that the lines were starting to be drawn. As I mentioned before, keep an eye on her to start making moves against the power couples soon enough.

12. Cliff (12): Gig ‘Em, Cliff! The first one blindsided this summer, but he wasted no time in getting right back in the game with a legendary performance (and celebration) in the Camp Comeback Comp. With Ovi gone, Nicole is his lone noted alliance member. Let’s see if he can make some moves with this second chance.

13. Bella (13): Dead last and moving up is a galaxy far, far away. Outside of Nick, it’s tough to name someone who thoroughly trusts her. I will admit, pulling off an HOH win this week would be a one-way ticket to some quality theater. But for now, she has a lot of work to do after GR(H8)FUL kicked her to the curb this week.

RIP IN PEACE

– David: A shame we didn’t get to see you truly play the game. The opening night eviction thing makes things exciting in the moment, but it royally screwed you over. Sucks because as Julie said, you were sniffing out the game perfectly.

– Ovi: Stood up against the bullying which was great to see. Just didn’t align with the right people. Good luck to your Vols this season.

– Kemi: Luckily, Christie not listening to Jack Week One meant you weren’t the first one out the door. Put your Blender Bottles wherever you wish.
