Dirk Nowitzki Is Absolutely Crushing Retirement Life

I can’t say I ever thought about how Dirk would look on the diamond, but we are getting more and more evidence that he may have himself a second career if he wants it. The guy looks like Ted Williams standing in the box during that batting practice, and let’s not act like he didn’t bring it last night while throwing out the first pitch for the Rangers

You factor in some of the brutal first pitches we’ve seen from athletes/celebrities you have to at least be somewhat impressed with Dirk’s performance. He’s basically a right handed Randy Johnson. I can’t imagine he has a ton of baseball experience under his belt and it’s classic Dirk that he’s just great at everything he does. Of course he is. Dirk is one of those guys who already has a perfect approval rating no matter who your favorite NBA team is as it’s simply impossible to not love the guy.

But to a larger point, Dirk really has been killing his recent retirement. He’s out here eating ice cream every damn day

“It’s been a blast,” the former Dallas Mavericks’ superstar said Wednesday night. “It’s been everything I’ve dreamed of – drinking everything and eating everything in sight on vacation and not really worrying about anything about staying in shape.

“I think, like I said, eventually I’m going to find a little routine, I’m going to start working out again and enjoying that. But as of now I literally have zero motivation to go work out.”

“I love pizza, I love pizza,” Nowitzki said. “I had it probably on vacation every other day. I love sweets, ice cream, I love desserts. I’ve tried all sorts of junk food already.

Try and tell me that isn’t living the dream. I think we all want to get to a point where we can stop giving a shit and just eat whatever we want and not even give a thought to working out. I imagine a few of you do that already but you probably feel bad afterwards. Not Dirk, he gives no fucks. I’m sitting here thinking of how many peanut butter M&M’s I would eat on a daily basis if that were the case and it’s an astronomical number. Living a life of nothing but relaxing, eating pizza and ice cream and then going to professional stadiums to do cool shit might be the best life of all time. If that isn’t the very definition of living the dream then I don’t know what is.

At first I was bummed that Dirk was walking away from the NBA, but after seeing and reading about what his post basketball life is I’m not sure how anyone could blame him. Plenty of players retire and go off the rails, Dirk on the other hand seems to have life figured out.
