Nobody Should Ever Say A Bad Word About Brian Cashman Ever Again

You know what I think about every year when Yankees fans bash Cashman and people bring up how his free agent pitchers have never panned out and all that recylced criticism that he takes every offseason? I think about how the Yankees are never bad. Ever. No matter what. They are never bad. Its absolutely the worst part of my life. Not the lazy eye. Not the double chin. Not being out of shape and kinda broke. Its that Brian Cashman always finds a way for the Yankees to be good. How he isn’t revered as one of the greatest GMs in the game blows my mind. I know everyone always cites the money, but look at this season. Dude has ONE HUNDRED MILLION DOLLARS on the disabled list and he’s sitting in first place with the second best record in baseball. The Mets were plummeting so what did they do? They signed Rick Ankiel and he showed up to a fucking baseball game without a goddam mitt. Meanwhile Cashman picked up a handful of wily veterans on their last legs of their career and he’s hit on almost every single one. 24 wins just about a quarter of the season in and the reinforcements are starting to come back. Granderson back in the lineup tonight, every day one step closer to getting back to full strength. And in the mean time they haven’t even missed a step. Its fucking nauseating.

My hope would be that eventually Youklis and Overbay and Hafner and Wells and the rest of the 2005 All Stars would run out of gas, but by then they’ll probably be recovered from most of their injuries. He gambled right on Ibanez last year. He gambled right on all these guys this season. Kuroda has worked out. If they ever get anything from Pineda, consider that a plus. I’m sick of people citing payroll as a knock on Cashman. He’s proved time and time again he’s more than just an open checkbook. One of the most thankless jobs in the world is being the Yankees GM and nobody is taken for granted more in the sports world than Brian Cashman.
