After Last Night, Everyone in the NBA Lottery Should Be Shaking in Their Boots

I know that the Cavs messed around with their little LeBron experiment the last 4 years and went to 4 straight NBA Finals, but now that he’s gone and ruining another franchise, Cleveland is right back where they belong. Right back where they thrive. Right back in the NBA Lottery.

Look at that handsome young fella in the top left corner. That’s right. That’s Ohio’s Tate himself. An original member of the Bow-Tie Gang. I wonder if Danny Gilbert is going to invite me back this year? If he wants the 1st pick AGAIN he will. Anyways, with last night’s 120-114 loss to Golden State, your Cleveland Cavaliers have officially locked up a bottom three record in the league. And in today’s day and age of the NBA, bottom three is as good as bottom one. This means that the Cavs, Knicks, and Suns will all have the best odds (14%) at bringing home the number one pick.

Losing 8 in a row to clinch it? That’s what I’m talking about boys. I remember when this team was sitting at 19 and 53, and I thought we were too good! But you can do anything when you put your mind to it, and now we’re going back to where dreams are made of with as good of chance as any of bringing home Zion.

And I’m not 100% sold that we need to take Zion at #1 (even though it would put us right back on the map in terms of popularity). I wouldn’t hate a Colin Sexton and Ja Morant backcourt either.

But regardless of who we want, I’m fully confident in my good friends Dan and Nick Gilbert’s ability to win another lottery. But the fact of the matter is that we do need to be prepared for if things were to go sour on May 14th in Chicago. Especially seeing as the #3 slot can slide all the way down to #7 this year.

Yikes. And I know the Knicks have already locked up the #1 spot, but the Cavs and Suns are currently tied for #2 with each having two games left. The difference between the 2 and 3 slot looks pretty substantial to me, if we’re talking worst case scenarios. So I’m no gambling expert by any means, but I would have to imagine that the Spurs/Rockets moneyline parlay tomorrow looks pretty solid, and then the Hornets/Mavericks parlay on Tuesday.

Good luck to everyone finishing out their season (especially the Suns), and we’ll see you all in May.
