COLTON HAS JUMPED THE FENCE

It happened. It finally happened. Colton has jumped the fence.

The moment ABC teased and teased and teased and teased finally happened and boy did it live up to the hype. That’s really the second most incredible part of the fence jump. The first most incredible part of the fence jump is the actual fence jump. That fence is no less than 30 feet tall and Colton leaps over it like it’s nothing. It’s truly one of the most impressive athletic feats of our time.

But no way no how did anyone think the fence jump was going to live up to the hype. If you’ve been watching The Bachelor for years like I have, you know they do stuff like this all the time. After the first episode they show a montage of things that’ll happen over the course of the season. It’s always a lot of kissing and crying and kissing and crying and then they show one big moment It’s usually something like someone bleeding as the result of a “fist fight” and an ambulance driving up to the mansion.

This year, it was the fence jump. They showed Colton leaping over the fence like a bounding superhero and we were all like, “What the fuck was that?” And then they kept teasing it and it took on a life of it’s own. The internet became obsessed with the fence jump. When does it happen? Why does it happen? Who does it involve? It captured the nation’s attention. Literally every single week they had us thinking, “Tonight’s the night he jumps. It’s gotta be” and then it wouldn’t. Until it happened tonight.

But the difference between the fence jump and the ambulances is that nothing important ever comes of the ambulances. A huge brawl never happens where somebody gets punched to the point of bleeding or needing medical attention. The person stubs their toe on a couch and it’s nothing. The moment comes and goes and the season would’ve been the same without it.

Not the fence jump. The fence jump happened in the most important moment of the season. ABC and The Bachelor producers could not have hoped for a bigger thing to happen at a bigger moment. The stars truly aligned. The fence jump lived up to the hype and we should all be forever grateful.

PS- Chris Harrison’s reaction was A+++++++++++. There’s a reason he’s the GOAT.
