Attempted Decapitation Would Appear To Be Against The Rules In The NHL

And there it is. The moment the NHL became the NBA. I’m sorry but back in my day, that right there is what we used to call “finishing your check” and “playing until you hear the whistle”. Just a couple of guys battling in the corner for a loose puck. Both guys getting a little handsy, both guys getting a little active with the stick, that’s just how you compete. But now it’s 2019 and all of a sudden that lands you a hearing with the Department of Player Safety with a possible multi-game suspension on the line. It’s a damn shame.

It’s like what’s the point of even wearing helmets anymore, ya know? The helmets are there to protect your head but what are we even protecting them from anymore if you can take a hack at some dude’s dome while going after a puck in the corner? I get why this could have been considered a dangerous play in the 70s because then it would have been straight stick to skull. But in today’s NHL? Where the helmets are the most technologically advanced they’ve ever been? Let the boys play.

P.S. – Ryan Johansen be like
