The Majority Of The Country Apparently Hates The Warriors, I Wonder Why

(SF Chronicle) – To the surprise of absolutely no one, the Golden State Warriors are easily the most-hated NBA team in the United States. A Twitter map made by sports analytic site ZCodeSystem.com reveals the most-hated NBA team by state, and the Warriors won (lost?) in 26 states. In each state, a query was run for phrases such as “I hate (insert team)” as well as other “negative phrases” directed towards teams or players. The Los Angeles Lakers are America’s second-most-hated team after achieving least-favorite status in 19 states.

There are a number of somewhat surprising findings in the map, including the fact that the Warriors are the most-hated team in their own state. Perhaps, though this actually isn’t too surprising, since Kings, Lakers and Clippers fans all likely despise the Warriors.

Washington hates the Lakers the most, although one would think Washington’s least-favorite team would be the Oklahoma City Thunder, since Oklahoma City stole their Seattle SuperSonics from them.

Pretty interesting map we have here of the most hated franchises in the league. You know what they say, people don’t hate nobodies so it doesn’t really surprise me that the Warriors/Lakers/Celtics are the most hated teams. As a member of one of those fanbases I am fully aware how annoying we can be and why other fans hate our guts. Although I’m a little confused by some of the states with Celtics hate. I get PA, they want to be the Celtics, but NY really hates the Warriors more than the Celtics? I know BOS/NYK hasn’t been a rivalry as of late, but I feel like that’s odd considering they face GS just once a year. Or do they maybe hate GS because somehow Durant is going to stay and not come to the Big Apple? Also, what the hell Georgia? Still bitter about those Bird/Dominque days? Wasn’t that playoff win a few years ago enough for you? I did not expect to be on their list that’s for sure.

I also don’t get the Warriors hate from Illinois. If not for them, LeBron most likely passes MJ in titles. Their coach is a Bulls legend too, so why the hard feelings? I get the whole 73-9 thing, but to hate them more than the Lakers or Celtics? That’s strange in my opinion. One thing that didn’t shock me was Utah hating the Rockets. That may seem weird to some but this morning after my Last Night In The NBA blog Jordie tweeted me this video

That’s some top notch hatred right there and you add that to a recent playoff ass kicking, that choice makes complete sense. Biggest surprise has to be Washington state not going OKC, but who am I to disagree that the Lakers are the worst.

So, based on where you’re from, is this accurate? I feel like this is way too general like yeah we all hate the Warriors but I have to imagine there are bigger rivalries that fanbases care more about than just hating the Warriors because they’re awesome and win every title. For example if I’m a Suns fan I hate the Spurs way more than I do the Warriors, shit like that.
