A Physicist Says Taking A Charge From Zion Is Equivalent To A Head-On Collision With A Jeep Going 10 MPH

Stetson v Duke

[SI] - The newspaper passed along clips of Williamson’s charges to University of Lynchburg physicist Eric Goff to determine exactly how much force players like Gaminde encounter. Goff said the maximum force of impact during a Williamson charge is 300 pounds–the same amount as the average force “during a similar, head-on collision with a Jeep traveling 10 miles per hour,” according to The Wall Street Journal.

This might be my favorite medical investigation ever. I mean we talk about just how goddamn big Zion is all the time. There’s also been a reason someone hasn’t really stepped in and tried to take a charge yet. 1) He hasn’t played Brad Davison and 2) it’s apparently the same as getting hit head-on by a Jeep going 10 mph.

Now, sure, 10mph doesn’t seem THAT fast. But a Jeep Wrangler weighs roughly 4,100 pounds. 4,100 pounds! You go stand in front of a Jeep and get hit by it, even if it’s ‘just’ 10 miles per hour. What an absurd stat. It also just shows how powerful Zion is, which makes him this unique player.

We really need Duke vs Wisconsin now. I need to see Brad Davison step in and try to take a charge against Zion. It’s really the battle of two forces.
