What Do You Do When You Think You're Gonna Miss Your Flight? You Call In A Fake Bomb Threat Duh

The Guardian- A man has been jailed for making a hoax bomb threat in an attempt to delay his flight because he was late. Jacob Meir Abdellak, 47, rang police and told them there was a bomb threat at Gatwick airport just eight minutes before his Norwegian flight to Los Angeles was scheduled to take off on 11 May. Despite the plane being delayed for 90 minutes because of his call, he was still late for his flight and became abusive with airline staff when they refused to allow him onboard. Airport staff later tracked the anonymous call to the phone Abdellak used for his original booking. The librarian from Amhurst Park, Hackney, London, was arrested on 22 May when he returned to board another US-bound flight. He was jailed for 10 months and ordered to pay a £140 victim surcharge when he appeared at Lewes crown court on Tuesday, Sussex police said.

Now you might be thinking this fella shouldn’t have called in a fake bomb threat but what other options did he really have? Miss the flight? No thanks. Missing a flight is a nightmare. This is gonna sound like a brag but I’ve never missed a flight in my life. It’s not because I’m a great time manager, I’m not. I’m maybe the worst time manager of all time. But that’s how scared I am of missing a flight. I’ve never done it and I never wanna start. I show up to the airport about 3 hours early every time. Not even kidding. Ya know, just in case. Just in case of what you might ask. Exactly. Anything can happen at any time so you gotta give yourself a three hour cushion. Not to mention it gives me plenty of time to eat Auntie Anne’s and have terrible wifi.

What do you even do when you miss a flight? Well the first thing I’d do is start crying. That’s for sure #1 on the list for me. Just bawling my eyes out and dialing up my mom. Maybe the guy who called in the fake bomb threat is like me and has never missed a flight and he wanted to keep that streak alive. So he panicked. He panicked and did something irrational. It’s just that the irrational thing this guy did caused him to spend 10 months in jail. It happens I guess. Probably should’ve just missed the flight to be honest.
