Do Handshakes Mean Nothing Anymore?
Just got a text saying Phils and Orioles have a "Handshake Agreement" in place for Machado. What does that mean? Nothing. Absolutely nothing.

What the fuck Baltimore, do handshakes mean nothing to you? A handshake agreement is as binding as a contract where I come from. My father used to tell me to shake another man’s hand firm and look him in the eye when you are doing it. I always believed this and stayed true to his teaching. I know I am not alone here, but I question another man if he doesn’t return the gesture. So this begs the question… Did Matt Klentak give a limp one? Let’s do some digging and research past Klentak handshakes because I have a feeling that this has a lot to do with it.
It’s rough when you have to shake the Alpha Male’s hand. It’s a losing battle. From a distance, this looks firm and tight, but when I get closer I am noticing something a bit peculiar in Matt’s shake form.
Does that look a little veiny to you? But veiny in the way that it is getting the shit gripped out of it because Klentak went in a little too limp? Also, the index and middle finger separation has me very concerned. We can’t forget this is Gabe Kapler’s hand he is shaking so let’s give Matt the benefit of the doubt and dig a little deeper.

The upward palm shake? Are you kidding me? Andy MacPhail is dominating you here, Matt. The downward facing palm projects power and authority and you went limp up. On the day you were named General Manager of the Philadelphia Phillies no less! I have no other choice but to believe this is a character flaw of our general manager just like that, Manny Machado is once again a pipe dream.

Whether there is a deal in place and the Orioles are just leaking information to drive the price up, we will find that out soon enough. If the reports are actually right and the Phillies are no longer in the running for Manny, then I have no choice but to blame Matt Klentak.
