No, those “holy shit” chants aren’t real. I put those in there, because this catch deserved them, and there weren’t enough fans at the Trop to get one going. But don’t worry, Steven Souza Jr. I gotchu, bro. Souza hit .225 with a .717 OPS in 110 games for the Tampa Bay Rays last year. Pretty underwhelming numbers to say the least. But the 27-year-old is off to a hot start in 2016, entering Wednesday night’s game hitting .295 with a .932 OPS, and already has two multi-homer games. He’s not just getting it done with the bat, either. I’d bet against this catch holding up as the Catch of the Year, but it’s definitely a candidate for Catch of the Month.
