Ian Kinsler Hits A Homer, Appears To Tell Padres Fans To Fuck Themselves, Surprisingly Denies Telling Padres Fans To Fuck Themselves

Here’s the deal — Ian Kinsler came into Thursday night’s game hitting .171 with a .546 OPS, and Padres fans wanted his ass DFA’d weeks ago. Let me just say that I understand the emotion on both sides here. If I’m a Padres fan, then this is the first season in quite some time that I can genuinely and justifiably get excited about. But when I’ve got a veteran who can’t hit his weight, who’s also booting balls all over the place at second base, then maybe I’d like to see a young gun get a chance at the position instead.

On Kinsler’s side, this is a proud man, who’s a defending World Series champion, a four-time All Star and a veteran of 14 years in this league. Of course he’s going to have a chip on his shoulder. He’s had one since college when he had to transfer schools because a kid from California by the name of Dustin Pedroia cucked his position at shortstop for ASU. So, when Kinsler connected for a three-run bomb on Thursday night to give the Padres a 4-2 lead, and he heard the cheers from the people who wanted him in the unemployment line just seconds prior, he did what a lot of people would’ve done — he told them to fuck themselves.

I ain’t mad at Kinz for that. I love that. I’d feel the exact same way if I were him. But you can very clearly understand why Padres fans were frustrated with him in the first place, and also why they might’ve been pretty damn excited to finally see him do something productive.

What I found odd, though, was that bat-flip. Don’t get me wrong; I love bat-flips. Huge bat-flip guy. My issue here is that Kinsler condemned such behavior during the World Baseball Classic a couple of years ago.

“I hope kids watching the W.B.C. can watch the way we play the game and appreciate the way we play the game as opposed to the way Puerto Rico plays or the Dominican plays,” Kinsler was quoted as saying. “That’s not taking anything away from them. That just wasn’t the way we were raised. They were raised differently and to show emotion and passion when you play. We do show emotion; we do show passion. But we just do it in a different way.”

Yikes. Anyways, glad to see that Kinsler is still as petty as ever (because nobody is buying the explanation that the “fuck all of you” was about his teammates), and that he’s on the right side of history by putting in his submission for bat-flip of the year.
