Yet Another Insane Twist In NBA vs China: China Apparently Asked Adam Silver To FIRE Daryl Morey

[Source] - A follow-up statement and press conference last week in Tokyo emphasized that the NBA supported Morey. “We made clear that we were being asked to fire him, by the Chinese government, by the parties we dealt with, government and business,” Silver said. “We said there’s no chance that’s happening. There’s no chance we’ll even discipline him.”

So there just continues to be more and more stories coming out from meetings to quotes to whatever. This time it's an insane request from the Chinese goddamn government that they wanted Daryl Morey fired! FIRED! 

We're talking about a goddamn front office guy for a professional sports team. I keep saying insane, but then again we're talking about the Chinese government here. They probably want me fired after this blog just because I called it insane. 

But you know what? Good for Adam Silver to say no and he won't even be punished. During this whole ordeal I'll give credit - I think Silver handled it better than pretty much anyone else. He had to walk the delicate line of protecting the bottom line of the business and not overreact to a foreign country. Now, granted he is now saying they have lost a ton of money.

Again, it's been said by pretty much everyone but one thing to remember here is the NBA is a business. Of course they care about not losing too much money. That plays a role in the salary cap, revenue share, etc. That's all important for players, owners and everyone. 

Either way, good for Adam Silver to tell China that they wouldn't even punish Morey. If the NBA needs an ambassador to China now, I have just the person.
