Urban Meyer Talks Shit About Michigan To Recruits While Jim Harbaugh Stands 10 Feet Away

ALLENDALE, Mich. — Jim Harbaugh got the final speaking slot, but Urban Meyer made sure to leave his mark.

Both head coaches were present Sunday morning at Grand Valley State University, site of the annual “Best of the Midwest” football academy.

Okay there it is.  I’m officially excited for college football.  Jack Mac said it was like 92 days away in a blog headline the other day and I instantly pushed it out of my head, because by my math, that’s about 3 months, and fuck that.  They say the waiting is the hardest part, every day you see one more card, you take it on faith, you take it to the heart, the waiting is the hardest part.  Pretty sure Tom was talking about the never ending fucking CFB off season.

But here’s the turning point: Urban Meyer subtly trashing Michigan while Jim Harbaugh stands about 10 feet away.

Meyer – the Ohio State head football coach – strolled in wearing his 2014 national championship jacket, then took the podium to address campers.

And his two-pronged message was filled with small, subtle shots at Michigan.

“We’re very fortunate at Ohio State,” Meyer began, “The last six years, really, we’ve had more players drafted in the country.

“I’ve been around and been able to coach Zeke Elliotts to Bosas to J.T. Barretts, etc. etc. We go out and recruit the best kids in the country.”

“I have no desire to watch a game when you beat the hell out of someone 40-0,” Meyer said. “I quit watching. I don’t want to see that. I want to see you in a rivalry game. I want to see you on fourth down, when you perform on fourth down when the team needs you.

“Not when you’re running around in shorts and T-shirts, or your vertical jumps. That’s OK, but that’s not what we’re looking for.”

That’s how you subtweet with your mouth folks.  That’s how you dump on somebody you’ve beaten 13 times out of the last 14 and how you dump on somebody specific who has been the coach for the past 3 losses in a row. Surprised he didn’t mention Harbaugh has an illegitimate child and that it stinks his best friend is dying of MS.

But the biggest pwnage part?

Harbaugh was the damn keynote speaker of the event.

He brought his entire coaching staff!

Harbaugh had long been advertised as the keynote speaker. His face was plastered on advertisements. He brought nearly his entire coaching staff. 

But there was Meyer, who followed up speeches by Eastern Michigan’s Chris Creighton, Central Michigan’s John Bonamego and Western Michigan’s Tim Lester, telling the under-18 crowd to focus on playing well in rivalry games.

Harbaugh responded by pulling a Drake.

Harbaugh, meanwhile, spent the next five minutes urging campers to listen to their coaches and play their best. There was no return fire. No response.

What could he respond?  Only way to shut Urban up is to beat him on the field.  November 24 can’t come soon enough.
