This Loyal Dog Has Been Waiting For His Owner (Who Died in a Car Crash) In The Spot of The Accident For 18 Months Now....

In a small town in Greece, a dog waits patiently for his master to come home every day. While this is common for canines, in this case, his master won’t be coming home—he was killed a year and a half ago.

The unnamed white dog waits every day by a roadside shrine in Nafpaktos, TK. The monument stands where his owner, a man named Haris, collided with a cement mixer on November 9, 2017.

The community erected a roadside shrine at the site of the accident, about seven-and-a-half miles from his home. And ever since, Haris’s dog stays at the shrine all day, waiting for his owner to come home.

Various Nafpaktos residents have tried giving the dog a new home, but he always returns to his master’s monument.

God damn, guys. I swear I didn’t wake up this morning and go out looking for the saddest stories. First we had the family that took their terminally ill German Pointer on a dream weekend getaway before he had to be put down the following week, and now we have this good boy who was been waiting for his owner who passed away 18 months ago in a car accident. Someone get the tissues as I tell this one.

So the first thing that sticks out to me is that this dog is hanging out at the site of the accident, which is seven and a half miles from his original home. Seven and a half MILES! Dogs don’t just get into their car and drive places. That’s quite the journey to make by foot. And how does he even know where it was?? Had to be the scent.

And even more, it’s not like it’s a familiar spot like their home or something. It’s not like he’s at the front door at a certain time every day waiting for his owner to get home….it’s literally the spot where the owner passed away. He’s looking for his best friend. Any time they try to take him somewhere else, he finds his way back to this spot….waiting for his owner to return.

Is there a better friend in the entire world than a good dog? Hug yours tight tonight, folks.
