Thank God Steph Curry Is Already Committing To The Olympics So Team USA Won't Be Embarrassing By Sending A Bunch Of Celtics Players

[Source] - Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry is committed to playing for Team USA in next summer’s Olympic Games in Tokyo.

“That is the plan, for sure,” Curry said in an interview with ESPN’s Rachel Nichols. “You know, obviously knock on wood, you don’t want any injuries or things like that to interfere.”

“Definitely wanna go,” Curry said. “I’ve never been on the Olympic team. I’ve been on two World Cup championship gold medal teams. But the Olympics is the experience that I want. And next year will hopefully be it.”

Can’t say I’m surprised, but thank God this is happening. Team USA was embarrassing at the FIBA World Cup. I know what Pop and the rest of them said. They battled, whatever. The point is we’re Team USA and we sent 12 NBA players. You shouldn’t finish 7th, no matter what.

And hey, I’m not saying we sent too many Celtics, but Steph is:

“We’re still the best,” Curry said. “If we get the guys that are supposed to be there, in terms of, you know, representing us in the Olympic stage and the commitment’s been there, and I think it’ll be there next year.”

I don’t think there’s one person on the FIBA World Cup roster that should be even considered for the Olympic roster assuming everyone says yes. Even then it would take more than a few people to drop out to bring back someone from the World Cup team.

This happens every 16 years or so. When we got embarrassed in the 2004 Olympics we had the Redeem Team. Now that everyone in the basketball world is talking about how bad we looked we’re going to get a loaded roster for the 2020 Olympics. If we can have everyone say yes give me a roster of:  Zion, Harden, AD, LeBron, Kyrie, Steph, Klay, Kawhi, Paul George, Draymond, Russ and then Klay and Durant if they are healthy. Win every game by 40 and reestablish dominance.
