Meanwhile In Kentucky We Have This Guy Getting A DUI On A Horse And Buggy, Because Of Course We Do

[WKYT] - Smiths Grove Police responded to a collision between a car and a horse-drawn carriage Tuesday, on the 1400 block of Hydropondsville Road.

Officers arrived on the scene and discovered that Reuben Yoder the driver of the carriage was under the influence of alcohol. Yoder and his 8 passengers were not injured in the crash and neither was the driver of the car.

Yoder was arrested for operating a non-motor vehicle under the influence, wanton endangerment, and criminal mischief. The Smiths Grove police chief says the horse is ok.

Goddamnit, Kentucky. Here I am defending you day in and day out. Saying how it’s really not that bad, unless you’re in Eastern Kentucky. That’s a whole different world. That’s not even part of America, let alone Kentucky. Just a weird place.

But, now? This is down by Bowling Green. Can we just say this is Tennessee? I vote we just call this Tennessee instead. I mean getting a DUI and a crash while driving a horse and buggy? Of course it was a guy named Reuben Yoder. Of course it had to happen in Kentucky and not Florida or Ohio or Lancaster, Pennsylvania.

Fun fact: you can get a DUI on just about anything in Kentucky. I remember people trying to organize a bar crawl on Big Tykes for a charity event when I was in college and the cops saying we’d all get DUI’s. Seems a bit aggressive.

Thank God the horse is okay. Way to bury the major part of the story here, WKYT. Now it’s a funny story.
