Lebron James - Big Book Guy. Reads "The Alchemist" On The Bench During Shootaround, Doesn't Even Notice The Cameras Around.

Lot of people are gonna say this is a “look at me” move.  That this is yet another calculated move by Lebron to give off a certain appearance with cameras around.  And I’ll admit, it would appear to the naked eye that he spends more time looking around to make sure people are watching him than he does actually reading any words.

But so what?  I’d argue this is the most relatable thing Lebron has ever done.  Seriously what is the point of reading if people don’t know you are reading?   What are you gonna do, read literature in private and get no credit for it from the outside world?  I’m a big reader, I read a lot, and you better believe I find a way to drop that into any conversation that I possibly can so that I can assure I am getting the proper credit as an intellectual.   Sure you may see my constant tweets about the movies I’m  watching and the TV shows I’m bingeing on Netflix, but don’t be fooled, in my free time I’ve got the glasses on, I’m lickin’ the fingers flippin’ through pages consuming the greatest works of fiction in literature, the biographies of great men and visionaries, nonfiction about current events to expand my views on the world.  If you don’t know I’m doing that what’s the fucking point?

Alchemist.  Great book.

The story of a young Andalusian shepherd in his journey to the pyramids of Egypt, after having a recurring dream of finding a treasure there.  It’s an allegory.  Duh.   It’s about finding your destiny.  The New York Times has said it’s actually “more self-help than literature.”  I find it to be both.   For example an old king tells Santiago that “when you really want something to happen, the whole universe will conspire so that your wish comes true”.

That’s fucking deep bro.  Let’s apply that to ourselves and have ourselves a day.
