Far be it for a little thing like the false equivalency between Ezekiel Elliot and Rob Gronkowski get in the way of ESPN’s narrative that everyone and everything is racist. Elliot nip-flashed the woman standing next to him at a St. Paddy’s parade in front of (presumably) a bunch of families and kids in broad daylight. Gronk motorboated a chick at a nightclub:
That would be the same Ezekiel Elliot who’s still supposedly under investigation by the NFL for allegedly smacking his girlfriend around and the same Rob Gronkowski who’s biggest criminal act so far has been a ton of offensive pass interference calls.
But this isn’t about those two guys. And it’s certainly not about race. Molly Qerim wants to know what we’d say if Lebron James stuck his face between some chick’s tits in a bar and I’ll answer. Nothing. No. Thing. Certainly no one on ESPN would say a word. Lebron dropped about 50 “fucks” in his speech at the Cavs championship parade and it didn’t make a ripple. And the idea that Gronk somehow escapes criticism is flat out fake news. New England is lousy with people who’ve been sick of his shenanigans since the first time he body slammed a Gronk brother in a bar about five years ago. Who blame his injuries on barroom antics he pulls in April and May. And who make wild, unsubstantiated speculations that Belichick is fed up with them and questions his commitment.
What this issue comes down to is really a question of how you see the world. You watch two athletes having a good time with grown women who were willing participants (Zeke’s perfectly breasted lady friend confirmed she was fine with it and you can’t tell me Gronk’s dance partner didn’t want the ol’ sailor to make a baby with her right where they stood) and you can either see it as harmless fun or get outraged. Have a laugh and forget about it or get all indignant about testosterone-fueled Alpha Males whooping it up with female companions like you just stepped off a ship from England with a buckle on your hat. It’s your choice how you want to go through life. But saying Elliot is taking some kind of heat that Gronk isn’t is just pure, racebaiting bullshit.
