Why Do People Continue To Give A Shit About This BS Josh Innes Vs. Mikey Miss "Feud"?

Philly.com - During Eagles training camp on Wednesday, things got heated between 97.5 The Fanatic host Mike Missanelli and Sportsradio 94WIP’s Josh Innes, eventually leading to the pair being separated by the team’s security. Earlier today Innes joined “The Mike and Ike Show,” hosted by Ike Reese and Michael Barkann on 94WIP, to describe the encounter, which he said was started by Missanelli. Innes said Missanelli griped about Innes talking tough about The Fanatic’s hosts on the radio, but not in person. Angered by the way Innes has spoken in the past about Anthony Gargano, The Fanatic’s morning show host, Missanelli claimed Innes was afraid to confront Gargano in person, Innes said. Missanelli also alleged that Innes backed down from Gargano during a previous confrontation, which apparently occurred while both men were employees of 94WIP, Innes said. Then, Innes recalled to Reese and Barkann, “I took off my sunglasses, looked him straight in the face and said, ‘your show [expletive] sucks.” Missanelli then aggressively moved toward Innes, and Innes backed away, before Eagles security intervened and separated the two, Innes said. “Yeah, he stepped back and wet himself just like he did months ago when Gargano confronted him,” Missanelli said later. “Anybody can be a tough guy behind a microphone.” Innes told Reese and Barkann: “I’m not afraid of the guy, but why am I going to get in the fight … he’s a typical meathead bully who can’t settle things with his words.” Despite reports, neither Innes nor Missanelli were escorted off the field, and both are hosted their radio shows from the Eagles practice facility. Whoa there. That’s some confrontation. Innes took his sunglasses off and Missenelli took a step towards him? Forget Eagles security, I’m shocked somebody didn’t call the National Guard for backup. What a freaking joke with this holy hardo talk. Let’s stand there feet apart and exchange a few sentences then both spew about how tough we were on the air. Don’t talk about it, be about it.

OK people – I’ve held out reporting on this topic until now because I absolutely detest what has been going on in the Philly Sports Talk world. I firmly don’t believe this kind of fake grab ass for publicity deserves the time of day. I still listen to these stations because, you know, it’s my job to stay in touch, but both 97.5 or 94.1 have been painful to dial into on the airwaves. After yesterday’s little stunt and the fact the bossman asked why the fuck it wasn’t blogged it’s finally being addressed. This sports radio war shit is annoying as fuck. Hell, I know since the Eagles season ended this has been arguably the worst time to be a Philadelphia sports fan – EVER – and there’s not a lot to talk about. But come on. Getting off topic is par for the course in any radio show, but it seems like most sports media talent in this city are only worried about their damn egos and ratings.

I’m not going to call Josh Innes a tubby out of town hack or Mike Missenelli “Bitchenelli” because all of that is irreverent to what their programs should actually provide to their audiences. But what I will say is both are absolute blowhards. Innes in real life is a very cool, humble, down to Earth person. On the air he’s the exact opposite. Innes is a great entertainer, but not much of a sports talk show host. That’s very evident when you talk about yourself, your show and, even more so, your competition wayyyyy more than actual sports. If it’s all about ratings then, sure, Innes is doing his job. He’s exactly like Howard Stern in which he’ll do whatever he can to get a rise out of people. Missenelli is nothing more than an ego-maniac who is well passed his prime (“General Knowledge Wednesday” is so damn corny it hurts), but for as dick as he is on the air, he knows his stuff. And I’ll go to bat saying he’s by far the best interviewer in the city, maybe even the country. I agree he tried to be a class act and was kind of backed into a corner when Innes started coming out swinging with his troll jabs, but now Missenelli is just as bad with his counter punches. Not only on-air, but who the flying fuck wears skinny jeans and boots to a 100 degree training camp practice? Yo, “Bro”, try a little less.

I just hope this shit ends once the Birds get into full swing. It definitely won’t cause for some reason people care about this happy crap, but here’s to wishful thinking.

PS – One of the few local sports shows I can listen to and actually, you know, enjoy is Glen Macnow and Ray Diddy on the weekend. Call me old fashioned, but I like my sports talk show hosts to actually provide respectable opinions and analysis. #InDiddyWeTrust
