Mcalester NewsFormer Eastern Oklahoma State College baseball player Zach Torres tweeted a video Friday of himself and teammates prank calling the Texas A&M bullpen that received more than 43,000 retweets and 82,000 likes within 24 hours.

With the video being picked up by Bleacher Report, SportsCenter and other social media outlets, Torres said he had no idea it would get that big.

“It wasn’t really planned; I didn’t know anyone was taking video,” Torres said. “But I’m glad (Jace Pitchford) took it though, because I’ll tell people the story that we called the pen and got a guy hot so now, they’ll believe it.”

Anybody who has ever pulled off a successful prank that you never thought would work out can relate to that room full of giggling bros right there.   Just pure joy and giddiness.   Such a sneaky good prank too, so simple yet so good.  Getting the number to a rival team’s bullpen and fucking around with them, making players run back and forth and start warming up and shit.   Incredible.

And for the “haters will say it’s fake” crowd scouring team rosters and shit online right now – it was recorded in 2015 but the dude just put it up on his Instagram Friday after getting permission from Minter.

The video was recorded by Pitchford and shows Troy Meadows calling to tell the Texas A&M bullpen to get pitcher A.J. Minter warmed up during a game on Feb. 17, 2015, against Stephen F. Austin State University.

They made the call in the top of the third inning with two outs and the bases loaded, and the prank seemed done for when the bullpen coach responded that Minter was in the dugout — not the pen.

However, the video then showed three A&M players going from the dugout to the bullpen and the Eastern guys all went crazy.

The video received some backlash on social media because it shows Kyle Simonds (wearing No. 14) taking off his jacket to warm up, instead of Minter (No. 34).

But Minter reached out to Torres and posted the video on his Instagram account.

Torres said he got the bullpen number after playing a summer league game the year prior to the prank call and waited two years to post it because he didn’t want anyone to get in trouble.

Bravo.
