A New Nightclub In NYC Is Apparently Going To Require Guys To Show A Bank Account Of $50,000 Or More To Even Get In The Door

So I saw this video on TikTok this morning and as a resident of the once great New York City, I couldn't stay silent. We've long heard the term "we don't unit shame" around these parts, but now we're unit shaming on club entries?! $50,000 may sound like a measly number to show if you're a responsible adult with semi-decent money management skills. The most obvious problem here is that unfortunately that does not apply to the majority of club owners. There are Nicky Smokes in abundance in New York — that is mid 20 something fellas that are never going to turn down a Friday night, despite what their bank account or wallet may have to say about it.

And listen, exclusivity clubs are nothing new in the city. I remember Dave got mad when Grinnelli was at Zero Bond, one of the cities most chic members only clubs that he likes to frequent. In so many words, Dave basically said he doesn't want to see guys like Grinnelli or me, the poors as he'd probably call us, in a club where he goes to unwind. But even average blokes like me have found my way in those doors on a few occasion. Nate found his way in (albeit with Dave) for a dinner after Boss Man got the company back for a dollar. And showing a percentage of Barstool SPORTS equity wouldn't work at these spots. Anyway, they don't check your bank account, and if you know someone who is prominent enough to get you in, then in you go. I won't comment on my experience(s) there, mainly because I'm highly unqualified, but I sorta get his point.

But imagine the embarrassment of getting a couple women to bless you with their presence for the evening, then you walk up to the door and the bouncer has you put your debit card in some "cutting-edge" ATM to show you're worthy? Reminds me of that saying "He gave you $5, but he had $100. I gave you $5, but I only had $10." That's the type of guys this club doesn't want. The guys who may not be swimming in pools of cash, but have the heart to party better than the rest of 'em.

I did my journalistic research on this and I couldn't find any update on the club opening, which apparently was slated for early April, so maybe they realized this wasn't sustainable. Groups of guys needing $300,000 as a collective to come in? Do they know how much bloggers make?

I used a thumbnail on this blog of the once great Studio 54 in NYC. An era where all were welcome, the only requirement was that you were willing to have a good time. Maybe this is the poor speaking, but can we get back to those days? The reality of the situation is that if this club ever were to open, you're going to be hard pressed to find people to go there. The poors are going to go somewhere else, and the rich probably have a zillion other exclusive clubs they're going to go to. The places that charge you a $50,000 INITIATION fee:

Again, maybe this is just poor man yells at cloud. But I thought clubbing was for everyone. Maybe it's time to just say goodbye to that life and start a family.
