The Zach Wilson Nightmare Is Over For Jets Fans As The Former 2nd Overall Pick Has Been Traded To The Broncos

It's finally over.

Zach Wilson is no longer the problem of the New York Jets. That anxious feeling you'd get watching him take each snap is just a history lesson. I've sat through Sam Darnold, Geno Smith (before he was good), Josh McCown and even truly awful QB's like Tim Boyle and Bryce Petty. The Zach Wilson Anxiety was different. It was less "Uncut Gems" panic and more of an "It Follows" terror.

You knew the starts were not going to end well. There was little hope to believe otherwise. I spent far too much time the last two seasons praying the defense would somehow score points. It's a beautiful relief that this is no longer a concern. I'm not saying the new backup Tyrod Taylor is a Hall of Famer but he's at least competent. Tyrod Taylor has a career QB rating of 88.3. Zack Wilson? 73.2.

Maybe you think that's not fair because Taylor is older and won't likely replicate a 88.3 QBR. Here's another fact. Tyrod Taylor has thrown 737 more attempts than Wilson. He only has 4 more picks.

Now, he's Sean Payton's problem. Wilson might even start for this sad Broncos team. How did they get here? This is a team that went from Peyton Manning to some disastrous combination of Jarrett Stidham and Zach Wilson. I'll be honest. I thought Russell Wilson would work out there. The cost was huge to get him but I thought it was worth a shot to get a Super Bowl winning QB.

This might not be the worst landing spot for Wilson. He could even get a chance to play. I do think there is no chance he'll ever be good. He got so many opportunities with the Jets but then again, I thought the same thing about Geno Smith.

As for Jets fans, this is a pretty great day. The nightmare is over. We are awake and everything at least seems to be OK. Games like this are just brutal memories.

Now we just need Aaron Rodgers Achilles' to hold up.
