This Crazy Minnesota High School 2OT, Triple-Buzzer Beater Game Might Be The Best Finish I've Ever Seen

This buzzer beater comes to us from last night's section 6AAA final between Benilde-St. Margaret's (red) vs Orono (white) in the state of Minnesota. That's what the tweet says at least. I must admit I'm not familiar with these particular teams, or the Minnesota HS basketball system. To be honest, I wouldn't have known this highlight happened at all until Brandon Walker brought it up on Mostly Sports this morning. But any game with 3 buzzer beaters deserves to be on the blog.

The most ridiculous thing about this video to me, even more ridiculous than the multiple bank shot buzzer beaters, is red team's reaction after merely tying the game in regulation. Maybe this is more common than I think (if it is it shouldn't be), where a team does a full-blown court storm after simply tying the game. I understand emotions are high, and the whole team is going to come out and celebrate to some extent. But that celebration was full scale. If you didn't know any better, you'd be certain they'd just won a game. The more I watch this, I have half a mind to think that they maybe even thought they had won. They literally had players waving goodbye to the opposing fans. That just a horrible omen. You can't play fast and loose with karma like that when you still 5 minutes of basketball to play.

Fast forward to OT1. Orono (white) hit a layup at the buzzer to send them game into a 2nd OT. Look at their reaction. Almost nothing. Still locked in on the game because they know it's not over yet. Knowing nothing about these teams, but basing everything on their body language, I have to imagine the white team was expected to win. They looked more relieved than anything. Either way, they were all business. They know the job wasn't over yet.

And of course, OT2 ends with the craziest buzzer beater of all. The kid gets the rebound, wrestles it away from three opposing players, breaks away just in time to get himself an open shot from beyond half court, banks it in. Then they celebrate like fucking crazy. Wild ending. I don't mean to shame the red team. They're only kids. It's awesome to see players get that excited about sports at any level. But damn... that has to be tough to watch back.

Also, the guy who hit the buzzer beater. Kid's name is Noah Groves. He finished with 45 points, 18 rebounds, and 6 assists. What a night.
